I have both the US 40 with retracts and US 60 with swept back Bolly gear mounted to the fuse - I suggest you go tail dragger style and skip the fussing with nose gear steering or a nose retract.

I presume you are using the 2 ft. by 4 ft tiles - I.ve found that these often have a natural curl toward the finished side and if you flip them over the weight of the tile will flatten them out.
