RE: looking for small aerobatic glider

I agree the Talon would be a good choice given the requirements. It's made by Dynaflite...

RE: Scale olde non-lead sled

Wow, that plane looks exactly like the Super Soarer. I converted an already built free flight version into R/C a few years ago. There's a story and pictures of the finished plane on my website...

RE: Futaba 9C Radio for sailplanes

There's lots of ways you could do this. I've got an 8U, not a 9C, but the software is pretty much the same, so here goes...

You could use the glider 2 flap template, which puts the flaps on...

RE: Soaring in So Cal

I've flown at El Segundo/Dockweiller several times. I used to work in the area and would fly there at lunch. The airport is not really a problem, since the slope is tiny and you can rarely more...

RE: Soaring in So Cal

Didn't SULA lose their flying field? The link to their website off of Gliderking doesn't seem to work anymore.

RE: Soaring in So Cal

There's the Thousand Oaks Soaring Society, though its on the outer edge of your range. It would probably take 45-60 mins to there from El Segundo....

RE: need semisymetrical airfoil advice

My preference would be for the S3016.

RE: Sting V-tail ball link question

It's actually not that hard...well, it's a bit tricky I guess, but I've done it dozens of times.

Typically what I'll do is disconnect the servo arm so I'm free to position the ballink easily...

RE: filip rg

They just didn't use very heavy glass for the fuselage. It tends to crack fairly easily from what I've seen. It's not like it would cost them more to make it a bit tougher...I think they were just...

RE: Dynamic Soaring

AFAIK, my own Sting-DS has clocked the fastest speed for that particular plane (195mph), but there are lots of other planes (Wizard, Opus, ****, Extreme, etc) that have gone faster, so I wouldn't...

RE: NSP Opus

Please everyone note, the Opus that NSP offers has NOTHING to do with the Opus that RC-Direct sells. They are completely different airplanes that coincidently share the same name.

RE: Help me identify a weird plane

I think the plane in question is the Rutan Boomerang, an assymetrical twin.

RE: filip rg

Reinforce the inside of the forward fuselage with extra glass or carbon. It's quite thin.

RE: Thinking about the SIG Ninja (or similar)

Another to consider...

The FUN from www.soaringspecialties.com. Costs $99-125 (depending on whether you get the presheeted wings option). The fuse is fairly tough fiberglass, so while it's...

RE: Lift of 30 to 50 mph EPP plane?

Sounds like you'll be able to fly just about anything out there. You might want to look at the Moth 60" (also known as the M60).http://www.northcountyflyingmachines.com/

RE: Help installing Deans Plugs

I think the best compromise here is to...compromise. Glue the connectors in the fuselage in place, but leave the connectors in the wing loose. The extra wire on the wing end will easlily slide...

flip v - airfoil wing profile question

I don't think you can anymore. NSP now has an online catalog (http://www.nesail.com), but I think they stopped publishing the paper catalog a few years ago.

flip v - airfoil wing profile question

Here's what an old NSP catalog had to say about those airfoils (paraphrased):

E193:
Used in many thermal performance gliders. Should have a good sink rate and moderate penetration. Stall...

I guess I should've asked another question: Is the plane looping straight, then snapping out on or near the top of the loop or is it looping fairly smoothly, but just not quite straight?

If it's...
