Nice Work!

I just spent a very enjoyable 20 minutes cruising your site.

I especially liked the tutorial on the hinges ... certainly one of my most hated tasks.

Folks ... tell your newbie buddies about...

Tuning receivers

With no disrespect intended, this sounds like one of those "if you have to ask ...." situations.

You need a stable RF signal source that's calibrated for frequency, output level and modulation...

Stumped!

We'll assume, for the moment (stranger things have happened, but not often) you don't have two Rx-Tx combinations that are broken.

Unplug all the servos. Plug in each servo (one at a time) and...

Antenna question

An antenna in the clear will, in the vast majority of cases, out perform an internal antenna.

That said, there are probably hundreds of models flying with great success using the scheme you...

Saab Video

Among the best things I've ever seen to invest 30 Mb on. That's a nice find!

How did you come up with that?

Question on the Futaba 8UAF

It can be either PCM or PPM ... you pick the modulation from the programming menu. As noted, it came in a couple of flavours. In addition to Super and not, there's also heli and air. The software and...

Ditto all the above ...

I'm the only one in our Club of 23 members flying on 50 MHz. Here in Canada, the 6m band is used even less than it is in the States.

I've had absolutely no difficulties flying on 6m (other than...

any body using a JR Max 4 AM ???

It came with JR 507s which I'm still using in other airplanes.

Any current production servo will work, of course, with appropriate connectors.

We can rebuild, Better than before.....

Well, as it turns out I didn't need to get to the LHS. A Google search for "Fowler flap hinges" turns up many sources, including this:

Scroll down the page and you'll see you can get the...

We can rebuild, Better than before.....

Squinting through my bifocals (nothing wrong with the picture, just my eyes), I'm tempted to think that such a rig could be kluged together out of control horns and such.

I'll take the pix into...

any body using a JR Max 4 AM ???

Absolutely it's narrow band.

I remember doing a bench test on this particular receiver and it blew the doors off a Futaba AM receiver. Much more sensitive and selective and considerably more...

Nice Job!!

Super rework, Bearly!

Did you "roll your own" on the Fowler flaps or use the design that was in MAN (?) a couple of years ago?

I'm sure the others wouldn't mind seeing a closeup or two of the...

It's a good one!

Ditto what gotrain says, although mine was bought for me! I learned on it and so did my daughter and son.

I was flying it last week in their/my old Eagle 2 just for old times' sake. Worked great.

Hitec metal gear RF problem

I have to agree with Michael. It is theoretically possible that the gears could cause some RF noise, but I think it's a risk that can be easily discounted.

The reason I say this is that there's...

Ace Digipace 1 documentation

I only have one and it's semi dead. I'd like to revive it but the cat got to the schematic before I could get things done.

Doesn't look like we're getting any nibbles, though. C'mon...

Field Box Gel Cell Battery Life ?

I've been flying for 10 years or so, and am on my second field box battery.

Both have been 7 aH no-names ... the first was "liberated" from an alarm system in a building being demolished. It...

Ace Digipace 1 documentation

Can someone run to the photocopier and burn off the schematic, board layout and parts list for this old beast?

I have them, but I won't tell you what got spilled on them. It involves cats and it's...

Not sure what you're getting at here ...

I'm not sure how this is relevant. It is true that ground proximity, ground conductivity and antenna alignment can all combine to produce differing antenna patterns ... that's why we have beam...

Dumbthumb (what a handle!):

Drop me a note with your address. I can help you out with the instructions ... they'll be photocopies, but quite useable.

And you are going to love this jig ..... ...

Clipped Wing 4 Star 40?

Thanks, everyone, for the comments. Certainly sounds like it's worth a try. The 4 Star certainly is a forgiving airplane to fly ... and I'm really looking for ward to seeing it with a little zippier...

Clipped Wing 4 Star 40?

This must have been done by someone who's motivated by faster roll rates, etc.

Frugality and laziness motivate me... beat off the last bay on one side of my 4-Star's wing on a less-than-perfect...

Control Products Unlimited GMS-403

I've recently acquired one of these elderly NiCd charger/"conditioners". It looks like an early implementation of burp charging.

The previous owner didn't have a lot of documentation with it ... a...
