yeah pretty much, i live & fly near the bay so i always get the sea breeze and it rains every other day in winter, yet we have a so called "drought" hehe

Take off the aluminum landing gear and replace it with the wire landing gear, that way if you land alittle hard you don't have to worry about cracks appearing in the fuselage and it will help you...

I would have to highly recommend the sim(G3) i know it's not cheap but in my view it's well worth it & it will help you get to your solo goal sooner than without, now as for your nerves, sorry to say...

i myself just use a fuel line hanging from the bottom to fill my plane, i'm yet to have a problem with it & when you've finished filling your fuel tank put a bung to block the line and...

I hate to say this mate but get a trainer even if it's only been 5-6 years its best to spend that extra $100 on a trainer than say $200+ on a nice scale only to lose it within 30...
