RE: HOW-To..3D maneuvers

Yes i thought when i first looked at the manouvere that its basically a negative left snap roll as the inputs are very similar, but its really not. The key difference is that you are using full down...

RE: HOW-To..3D maneuvers

You can get away with holding the rudder where it is if you're lucky or have good timing. On smaller models (under 50cc) the tumble happens so fast you cant (or at least i cant!) really see when to...

RE: HOW-To..3D maneuvers

Just came across this thread. I like to think i know most of the repertoire of manouveres these days but its always interesting to read how others do them and there is world of difference between...

RE: Composite-arf NEW 2.1 Extra !!

Ouch! it shouldnt tear. The hinging material is moulded into the wing so difficult to fix, but if you can get in under the skin either side of the hinge line you could laminate on some kevlar weave...

RE: Composite-arf NEW 2.1 Extra !!

RE: New DA85 vs DA100

Yes its kind of obvious when you think about the mechanics of it, bigger singles have a bigger piston head that weighs more and gets thumped harder by the combustion cycle. So in the twin they are...

RE: New DA85 vs DA100

rctom; well its a good point but only half right i think. Maximum torque is not necessarily at a low rpm it depends on the stroke and timing of the engine. RC engines are generally fairly simple in...

RE: New DA85 vs DA100

I have a comp arf Extra 260 with the DA-100 (28x10) and its as smooth as silk and i really dont notice the weight, in fact this aircraft needs it otherwise it comes out tail heavy (another factor to...

RE: New DA85 vs DA100

Easy,
* big single cylinders vibrate like hell
* HP is only one measure of power, for 3D im more interested in torque, twins have much more torque
* twice as many strokes per revolution means...

RE: Biela Props

Thanks for the 18 x 10 Biela Dave, works very nicely on my YS160DZ in the EF Yak. Best prop ive used and ive tried a few in the last year. Also worked very nicely on my Comp Arf Extra 260 with...

RE: Extreme Flight RC Yak 54 - 74 inch!

I fitted a YS160 to mine which gets the weight down to around 11lbs. My only issues / mods were:

* Because i was using the YS160, and i had a Hyde soft mount available i used it and not the...

RE: composite arf yak?

KS clamps are nice, better design than Greve i think. The mounts probably benefit from soft mounting, and that would probably also prevent the movement ('creep').

RE: composite arf yak?

I had some issues with radio lockouts on mine but fortunately i caught it early and fixed it. I have just recently also had problems with my 3m Extra 260. Both have teflon joiners between the...

RE: Extreme Flight RC Yak 54 - 74 inch!

I have experimented with all variety of props on the YS160DZ over the last year+ since replacing the 140DZ, starting with an APC 17x8 off the 140, then APC18x8, APC18x8W, Zinger 18x8, Mejzlik, all...

RE: To buy Katana MD or Sebart

Interesting, well the neaerst thing i have to it at the moment is the EF Extra which is a great little plane but is a bit tip stall tendent and is a bit of a swine to prop hang, and really does not...

RE: To buy Katana MD or Sebart

Im also trying to decide between these two models but really cant find anything in it. The Sebart Katana is slightly heavier, but then slightly bigger so maybe has slightly less wing loading. They...

RE: composite arf yak?

1.5in arms gives me well enough throw on the ailerons, they are powerful on the Yak. SO dont think you will have a problem. It also flys slightly better (IMO!) slightly tail heavy, very flat spins...

RE: composite arf yak?

Most people dont bother, and dont have any problems. Doubtless though baffles would be better if done right, but worse if not ;))

RE: Spread Spektrum and F-100 ( heads up )

First time ive seen the Weatronic, thats an awesome piece of kit. Its got what aklot seem to lack in terms of more in-flight diagnostics. Almost getting close to 'black box' recorder type...

RE: Spread Spektrum and F-100 ( heads up )

GrayUK; i believe this is largely a myth. What is a LiPo 3s2p, it is two 3 series packs of lipos in parallel. Hence proof that you can put batterys in parallel as we use packs setup like this all...

RE: Spread Spektrum and F-100 ( heads up )

Im only an amateur in electrics, but i recall that all inductors generate back emf when in use. A servo motor is an inductor (brushless, coreless or otherwise). I think this is wht you refer to as...

RE: Spread Spektrum and F-100 ( heads up )

Beggars belief why anyone wouldnt use a full power bus system (Powerbox, Fromeco etc) and redundancy of at least the power supply (radio batterys) inside a Jet. The relative cost of a system that...
