Yup planenutzz... it's a crrc 40. Too bad I had to take it apart to measure piston before I searched 'CRRC'
Didn't seem to rev very high so never put a tach on it. Gettin 8600rpm w/ 17x8 APC so way...

Thanks all!!!
Truckracer, I believe your right -- a weeder convection from brillelli or someone. Other than forums, not much info out there anymore and sites are all dead. Not many pics to...

Better pics. He had a 17x8 APC on it. Didn't seem to have much power. Other than disassembly to measure piston, I don't know displacement.
Thanks for any help!!...

Anyone know what this engine is??

Bought a Hangar 9 cap 232 with this no name engine on it. No Engraving, casting numbers or marking anywhere but a decent quality lightweight electronic ignition beam-mounted gasser.
Looks to be...

Current prop charts, 4 stroke power & 'guess my engine'

I just picked up a used 1/8 scale gas cat cheap, luckily, cause it turns out being a ***.
Not sure what the engine is- maybe homelite or some weeder- COBRA and 30cc decal on fan shroud- anyone...

RE: 4s vs 2s vibrations

Everyone has stated the differences in the firing frequency between the two. I would have to agree the 4s will have the stronger 'hit' when it fires, but the biggest difference is this rate of fire....

RE: Who makes a FF prop for a .15 - like a 9x2 or 3???

A guy at a shop in Wichita told me they were going out of business, but a year later, he still carried a big selection of Rev-ups.
I just assumed he was misinformed.
I assume know one bought them...

Who makes a FF prop for a .15 - like a 9x2 or 3???

I've got a Herr pitts special 1/2A w/ modified AP .15.
The 8x4 puts the engine right in it's range but it's way too fast for my flying style.
The high idle makes it difficult to slow down for a...

RE: TT 61 and 14x4 zinger prop

14x4 is way too much prop- I've got a 12x5 on mine.
Assuming you need 3D pull, it may swing a 13x4 at low revs.

RE: Pitch too sensitive

If you are just beginning, you will want limited pitch on the - and + sides- something like -4 and +8 degrees. This gives you a shorter range and less sensitivity on the collective stick, but because...

RE: TT .39H Pro fuel recommendation?

I used Wildcat or Coolpower (total synthetic) for many years in my helis and have never had a rusty bearing. The engines and mufflers stay clean inside and out.

In my planes, I use Castor...

RE: Pitch set up for Auto Rotation..?

Pushing negative pitch while on the skids is only a big deal if your sitting on floats in the drink.

I push mine down with full neg. w/wo full throttle all the time for lots of reasons- a quick...

RE: Pitch set up for Auto Rotation..?

Why would you want a whole new pitch curve to get use to when doing autos, or when switching to any mode for that matter either?
Will you remember to flip the TH switch if the engine dies-?...

RE: Changed muffler...Now it runs like crap. Help Please

Changing pipes or mufflers can drastically affect the tuning, especially the top end.
You will need to do some full power climb-outs to get the right mix on the new pipe.

RE: prop on a saito .56

I've been looking for a nylon 13x4 or 13x5 for a slow flying Senior with a Saito 50.

Tower shows Zinger making a 13x5, but that's it- everyone else starts at 13x6 and up.

Is your's an APC?...

RE: TT 120 mid-range

If it's towing a glider in the air, you would want more thrust than speed. I'd try a 16x6 to get the revs up a little more and not load the engine so much.

If it's smooth as it looses power and...

'Sound-check' for glitch causing power supply

If you ever have a model that has a glitching problem and has caused a crash, or a 'lack of faith', I have a very simple and quick check for the power system, which can be the cause.
It involves...

RE: TT .46 pro problem

Remember that a 4 pitch prop is like driving in first gear-- your going to need a lot of revs just to maintain enough speed to stay in the air. Because it's screening all the time, there's no...

RE: Castor oil - A final word?

Looks like rust and corrosion to me.
This is all it takes to start the galling process on the ball and races and soon it will sound like it has sand in it.

It certainly isn't clean and shiny....

RE: Tail push rod recommendation?

Any of the online heli stores have carbon tail rods, but their pricy- $18-25.
You can make your own too for much less.
Fiberglass rods will work, as long as you have a support on the boom, but...

RE: Saito 72 w/ 12.25 x 3.75

Yikes!!!
That prop is for a .46-.50 2 stroke and 3D-- not near enough for a .72 4 stroke no matter what flying style.
I use a 14x4 for slow 3D or a 13x6 for more speed on mine.

RE: Castor oil - A final word?

John,
How old was that engine and what fuel?
If you still have it, show some pics of the rusty bearings and crank.

I don't argue that Castor offers good protection from lean runs. But I've never had an engine damaged from a lean run, whether it had a diet of Castor it's entire life, synthetic it's life, or...

RE: HELP!! Need GOOD rubber bands!!

64s were the biggest they had but they...

RE: Castor oil - A final word?

Some marine, DF and high-end engines come with stainless bearings. You can replace them if you want to spend the extra dough but most are not SS.
