Yah! the struts are so functional on this design I wouldnt even THINK about attaching the wings without them, Make the struts and there mounting points as strong as possible and you should be fine....

scale? by the time you get the cowl far enough over the fuselage ithe edges of the cowl are sticking out quite noticably and that isnt scale. It should be flush and blend in with the fuse sides.

They are made of fiberglass and they are a little short as the cord on the Bates wing is less than the NWHT.
