Why couldn't the 182 be a 172. I have the perfect 172 to model. How difficult would it be to take this plane, recover and mod to be a 172 vs 182?

I use a Saito 1.8 in my sukhoi and it is now flying great. Finally got the flat spins down.

I would be concerned on the weight of the 5 cylinder. I have flown the same engine on a Great Lakes...

Ok how do you bend it. Do you form it with a blow drier. What glue to you attach so it doesn't frost up? I am making one for my 1/4 scale Sig cub.

Next time I take it out I will check the cg. Moving it to the rear makes it fly much better. It was a dog with cg at plans recommended.

But note,, I fly all my planes tail heavy so they spin...

Saito 1.8 keeps shaking muffler loose forcing landing.

Tail wheel bends easily and will need replacement.

Pics attached and my cg was also the 4" point. With the gas burner you might have to add some tail weight. Also consider larger wheels.

Hang on the prop.. Don't really know until it is flown. Probably won't hover,, mine won't hover with 1.8.

However breakin. I would use coolpower 15 % fuel 1 oz castor added.

Crank set...

I would expect the OS 1.6 twin to have about the power of a OS 1.2 single cylinder and I would expect it would fly the sukhoi well.

I would recommend cool power 15 % Green for the OS and add 1...

I assume you are on a paved runway?

Otherwise your engine should idle down enough to not be moving. If on paved runway you might consider wheel brakes. I have tried the tighten wheel collar...

I modified my wing attachment bolts for 1/4 x 20 nylon on the inside of the fuse vs. the screw type into the spar.

Works much better. Still fighting the exhaust through the cowl not...

Update. After doing the valve work it would draw fuel. I started the engine and it ran a few seconds then quit. It would no longer draw fuel.

There is very little compression and I suspect...

I pulled the head this morning removed the valve and there was heavy carbon on the valve stem that was hitting the valve guide.

I carefully polished...

I will check the valve today. But at first look it appears to be sealing but perhaps not. I run full synthetic oil to prevent carbon build up but this engine has lots of time.
