Maxtenet...two different airplanes. The Tsunami you have is in no way scale, just a sport plane that Direct Connection made. The Tsunami Q40 is based on the full scale Tsunami unlimited air racer...

Tsunami. Probably an old Jim Gager kit, but not 100% sure on that. One of the very first Q40 designs in the early 90's.

I've had my current Master Tack for close to twenty years and it's been rock solid. I've been wanting a backup for a long time, but Allen never had any when I checked with him. I don't know if he has...

RE: Flap Problem

How many channels are you planning on using in your radio? If you have the ability to plug the flap servos into separate outputs on the receiver you can then use the "P Mix" function in your TX and...

RE: Futaba Setup

I agree with Randy. I've been running the LiFe's with Futaba 9650, 3150, and 3102 servos. The manufacturers are pretty much always going to error on the safe side recommending not exceeding the...

Bruce, I've been running the LiFe's without regulators...no issues.

RE: Sad News - Jim Womack

Very sad news. Jim was a great guy, always friendly and in a good mood. I enjoyed getting to catch up with him a bit when he came out to watch the Woodland EF1 race in April. He will be missed.

RE: Crank ID

Actually both cranks are for either Q40 or Q500, they're just different vintages. The one on the left is newer.

RE: MUBU II F5D Build

Biggest thing I'd worry about is vibration killing them, but I don't see why they wouldn't be great in EF1's.

RE: Telling difference between Nelson Q40 LS & Q40 SS

Agreed, it's a very early SS Q500 engine. Doesn't have the counter-balanced thrust washer, and the prop nut looks like what came on the early engines. Could possibly be AAC, but if it's the original...

RE: Telling difference between Nelson Q40 LS & Q40 SS

Most of my "LS" mufflers aren't engraved as they didn't do that for long. I'm out of town for the weekend and don't have one around to measure, and the differences are hard to describe, but if you...

RE: MUBU II F5D Build

Looks great! An AR-6 would look really sweet with that color of red ;) Too bad it just takes so many coats of paint to get it that way :(

RE: Havok and Rattler....New Q500 Kits

I think it was...immediately after the switch to the long course....when the record was being reset almost every race ;)

RE: Havok and Rattler....New Q500 Kits

Bob,
I didn't realize you had a name for your planes, I just called them "Runts". If you really wanted to be accurate with the name... "Left Lane Exit" would've been appropriate considering their...

RE: September Fury - a new Q-40 design

Gary,
While you can use a trough to provide clearance for the muffler, you cannot use one for the cylinder.

RE: Waiting for the release

From the board members I've talked to, it was pretty much as I said previously. People were bent out of shape with the introduction of the LS engines. The engine situation had stabilized, and the...

RE: Waiting for the release

Bill,
Out of curiousity, being that you haven't raced in several years, why are you even concerned about what the rules committee decided? Or are you just trying to stir the pot?

RE: Waiting for the release

Bill,
You think it's hard to be competitive in F3D? Try F5D. Totally different ballgame.

Like I said, I'd rather allow anybody that's willing to invest in the events play, but the rules...

RE: Waiting for the release

While I don't believe anybody that wants to support our events by producing products for them should be turned away, I'm sure a lot of the reason for this rule was due to the LS engines being...

Sam, I have no idea what you're talking about, but I can guarantee there is no way AJ or any other racers I know of would try to hack your site.
