RE: Spacey's Boxxer build

Hi all,

Is everyone mounting their throttle servo on those round dowels? How has it worked out?

I'm finished covering, and into final assembly. I'll post some photo's when its all...

RE: Spacey's Boxxer build

I went with a 1/16 ply load spreader for the gear. Put the carbon tissue underneath. If I were to do a truss style fuz, I'd have to drop the dimension of the verticals as well. Next time!!

RE: Spacey's Boxxer build

Question for Matchlessaero,

Did you think of designing the fuz with a warren truss style girder rather than the vertical members? I think it would look cool. If I build another, I might try...

RE: Spacey's Boxxer build

Okay, I framed up the fuselage, and made a major deviation from the instructions. I couldn't see the virtue in leaving the fuz in 3 pieces, to be joined after covering. Too easy to lose alignment, I...

RE: Spacey's Boxxer build

Well, I'm happy. Ran the incidence meter over my wings (i chock them on the blocks, and then measure at several locations along the wings). Both dead straight, so that's a win. Found some nice...

RE: Spacey's Boxxer build

Hi Spacey

Your build's looking really nice. I joined my wings today. I notice that there's enough carbon to do both top and bottom spar. I was wondering if if would be best to do bottom spar on...

RE: Spacey's Boxxer build

Yes, I'm using a small JR reciever that fits okay.

I had no worries about the size of the spar, it was just that the balsa in my kit was very light (for some of the spars. I tried to put one...

RE: Spacey's Boxxer build

I couldn't see a point for the 1/16" shim under the ribs either, They sat flat on the board as is.

I'd re-iterate the point about carrying the spar webbing through the centre bay, particularly...

RE: Spacey's Boxxer build

Hi,

I've just finished framing my boxxer wings. One thing I noticed is that the balsa sections are not quite square. You'll notice that the 1/4" square balsa to build the 'boxes' around the wing...

RE: CG Ultimate or GP Super Skybolt?

Ultimate needs a few changes. Stock undercarriage wire is too soft. I made up a carbon fibre undercarriage. Reinforce the light ply on fuse top where cabane mounts (1/16" ply doubler worked well.....

RE: General question about OS1.40 midrange

Thanks for all the advice.

I lengthened the pipe about 1/2" - made a big difference to the midrange. The motor seems to get on the pipe earlier. It made the top 1/3rd of the throttle travel...

RE: Help with a ringed OS 50Sx

I'm not sure if the ring is pinned on the OS50. It seems to compress back into the slot okay

Help with a ringed OS 50Sx

hi all,

I'm rebuilding an OS 50Sx, and I can't get the piston back in the liner. There's a champher on the bottom of the liner. I thought that this would compress the ring so the piston would...

RE: OMP Boxxer

Hi all,

What are people using for servo's. Is it worth going with mini's, like JR 381's with metal gears. Or is full size a better bet.

RE: General question about OS1.40 midrange

Thanks for all the advice.

I'll try lengthening my pipe and see if that helps. It was a bit hard to believe that a motor as refined as this should die all the time in the mid-range.

General question about OS1.40 midrange

Hi all,

The perceived wisdom in the group of pattern fliers I associate with is that the OS 1.40 Rx has midrange problems. I have found the same thing, the motor does want to quit if you fly in...

Electric Boxxer

Hi,

Do you have any experience with electrified Boxxers? Can you suggest what motor, battery combinations people are using? Out-runner or gearbox?

Leads would really be appreciated.
