Bax,
It is definitely non-ringed. Is it ABC or equivalent as far as break-in goes?

Unused os max 45fsr-need break-in-is it ABC?

Is the os max 45fsr an abc engine. I need to know before I break it in. Is there any way to tell by looking at it? I can't find any info on the os site other than it has a vintage of 1978-1980. ...

Can't correct roll coupling with max rudder on Magic - what's the point in having it?

Not just the Magic either. I go to great lengths to get 45 degree throw on the rudder. I mix out the roll coupling (and pitch coupling) on my 9C. Works pretty good to about 30 degrees. But above...

Flat spin = flame-out

Mkirsch,

Thanks for the feedback. I think I'm starting to get a handle on this. The 2 hours I spent out back yesterday just experimenting - lots of vrooom, vrooming, really started to educate...

Flat spin = flame-out

Thanks, I'll try your method to "double check" what I got today.

I reset the low end needle to 1.5 turns out (as per manual).

Started it up, set the high end. No problem. Got the...

Flat spin = flame-out

Ran it up a while today. It has a tiny stream of little bubbles at full throttle only. Reading here I learned the fuel tubing on the needle valve trick and did that. Made no difference. I just...

Flat spin = flame-out

Thanks for the tips. I'm going to start it up later and adjust the low end, although I won't be able to flight test it. It's very possible the low end is lean as I set it yesterday for a fresh...

Flat spin = flame-out

I've got a Magic, OS 46fx, stock muffler, 11.5x4 prop. High end needle is about 400 off peak (set at about 12000). Low end is as good as I can get it, ie transition is fair, though lags a bit when...

Why is the Futaba 148 servo so popular for throttle?

OK. So no point in going out a buying 148's for the throttle. I've got a drawer full of Hitec hs-81 metal gear servos. I usually put them on the throttle. I'll stick with that for now.

thanks...

Why is the Futaba 148 servo so popular for throttle?

?
The specs don't show it as being much different from standard servos. Is it more precise or something, and if so why not use it for other purposes?

thanks, Balin

thanks all

Need help identifying idle speed screw and others on OS 46fx and OS 32 Sx

David,

Thanks. I've got it.

In the manual they refer to the "Mixture Control Valve". If I'm not mistaken this is another name for the idle mixture screw.

Adjusting trims-which hand do you use?

Is there a standard "everybody does it this way" answer?

If I'm adjusting, say the aileron trim, sometimes I use my right hand. But if the trim is way out (first flight) I don't want to take my...

Upscaling/downscaling plans - ??

Ollie,

"The inertial forces go up as the cube of the span". Volume, weight, mass. OK. That makes sense.

But on what do you base the "strength goes up as the square of the span"?

Would be nice if the...

video card for Real-Flight???

Thanks,

So the trick would be to make sure there is an open AGP slot?
How is the on board video disabled? Hardware or software? Is this a relatively foolproof proceedure?
