Agree, don't wrap the pipe, just treat the wooden or fibreglass areas. This can be achieved with heat blanket or painted on with the Heat Shield from BVM.

My SM T-33 is 46lbs empty and 55lbs at take-off. Bear in mind that my AMT Pegasus is heavier than most other equivalent size turbines, so building it lighter will be easy.
