RE: Texas RC Piper PA-25 Pawnee Build

It looks like the updated version of the one in my thread. I know the struts are not optional and yes you should reinforce the structure around the wing root and LG block.
I am in the process of...

RE: Texas RC Piper PA-25 Pawnee Build

Tank is good but double check the stopper. Red for gas and black for nitro.

A couple of guys are building with the DLE 30.

RE: Texas RC Piper PA-25 Pawnee Build

Larry,

Yes it takes two servos for the elevator. You can run two leads back and mix them in the radio (my preference) or you can order a reversed servo from just about anyone and use a Y or you...

RE: Texas RC Piper PA-25 Pawnee Build

Look earlier in the thread and you will see what I had to cut out for the RCG 26. It will be pretty close to what you need. You can get some long #10 shcs and use cut tubing for standoffs. Just put a...

RE: Texas RC Piper PA-25 Pawnee Build

Maybe on the 150. One worked well on my Rascal 110 Don't plan on big loops. My 26cc gasser is just barely enough. I have been thinking of going up to a 45cc so I can swing a 20" prop on it.

You...

RE: Texas RC Piper PA-25 Pawnee Build

I ended up using Hitec HS 625 MG all around except throttle which is Tower STD. I am running 6 volt NiCD batteries on both ignition and RX.

RE: RCG 26cc

Watch Warbirds, they tip stall real bad. Land them a little on the hot side. Ease the throttle up on take off and build up speed before you pull the stick back.

RE: RCG 26cc

Yes I have seen those. I have heard mixed views on them.
FYI my charger is a Thunder AC6 Dual Power. It only charges one battery at a time but it will charge anything from pb to lipo.

RE: RCG 26cc

5 cell packs are 6 volts. They should charge to 7.2 or close to it. If you only have 4.8 then there is a real problem. I cycle or form all my packs before I use them whether they be nicd or nimh. I...

RE: RCG 26cc

I fly 5 cell packs on all my planes on both the servos and ignition. Minimum 2000 ma. You have to watch which pack you use also on large servo planes. Make sure it will deliver the amount of current...

RE: RCG 26cc

I know how you feel. I lost three planes on 2.4. All three did exactly the same thing. A Giant Aeromaster with a G-45, A Hanger9 Pawnee, and a Rascal 110. THe Pawnee wa the first to go and it had...

RE: RCG 26cc

You are correct on the the failsafe.
I have no special recomendation for a Radio.
I do isolate the engine compartment as best I can. I use ny-rod push rods for my throttle linkage and try to...

RE: RCG 26cc

So sorry to hear that. I hate to say it but they all have an expiration date and we don't know what it is. As sheilded as all the modern ignition systems are I doubt that was the cause but you never...

RE: crop duster r/c

I have used the RAM onboard with it's own battery in several planes from 40 2-strokes to 1.80 4-strokes.

RE: RCG 26cc

Here is the scenario. Larger diameter prop with lower pitch is higher rpm and more thrust. Smaller prop with higher pitch is higher airspeed in flat flight but less thrust. I agree with ahicks on the...

RE: RCG 26cc

You are welcome. Glad to be able to help. The engine will get better with each flight. It breaks in much better in the air than on the stand.

I think you will find much better performance when...

RE: RCG 26cc

Calm down and breathe while counting to 10.
I would say yes it is time to change to synthetic. I would also say you need to tear the carb down and clean the screen inside. I bet you will find the...

RE: RCG 26cc

I use Amsoil synthetic in 60-1 ratio. GREAT STUFF! You can get it over the internet if you can't find it locally. I would check with your local hobby shop to see if they can get it. I have heard of...

RE: RCG 26cc

What we call "regular" (89 octane) is fine to use. Aviation fuel would be available at you local airport for small aircraft. You don't have to use it but it burns much better than gasoline for autos....

RE: RCG 26cc

I would finish out what you have on the mineral then convert to synthetic. No need to waste the gas. Are you using aviation fuel? I use high octane auto and add a fuel stabilizer with my oil. It will...
