RE: Great Planes Shoestring

Hey Dragonheart,

This was sure a post out of the blue. I still have my Shoestring but can't remember what I did to reinforce the landing gear. Whatever I did it worked because I've had zero...

Help, I lost my canopy on my 27% Hanger9 Alitalia cap today. That's the one with the purple and white scheme. It was so hazy that I didn't even see it come off....could be anywhere. Does anyone...

RE: Original AccuCycle will not charge or trickle.

I tried unplugging and plugging it back in.......no luck. I'd really like to get another 6 output Ace charger to go along with my existing one and my Ace cycler but am still holding out hope that...

Original AccuCycle will not charge or trickle.

I recently arrived at the field with a totally drained flight pack battery. What I found is that my Accucycle does not go into trickle when a battery is hooked up and it will not allow me to select...

RE: Great Planes Shoestring

I believe I used everything that came with the plane and I put an oversized .91FX in the nose which doesn't add any weight over the suggested .60 size engine. Due to the added power I did glass the...

RE: Great Planes Shoestring

Actually that's an old picture. I am now running a 13x8 apc if I remember right.

Three more flawless 10 minute flights today. I don't think I have ever burned 3/4 of a gallon of fuel in one...

RE: Great Planes Shoestring

I got three more trouble free 10 minute flights on the Shoestring yesterday. Adding the down thrust did not completely solve my issues with the plane but I think I can live with that way it is now. ...

RE: Great Planes Shoestring

I got the Shoestring out for a flight today. It flys straight and level but still has about 1/16" or maybe a touch more of down on the elevator. That's an improvement over before. The plane did...

RE: Great Planes Shoestring

Okay, I got the incidense meter on the Shoestring today. My wing is at +1.5 and the engine was at -.5 degrees after I removed the washers from behind the motor mount. After I moved the engine to...

RE: Great Planes Shoestring

Rick,

Thanks for the incidense numbers! I didn't know they were available either. Just from eyeballing mine I would say it has no down thrust on the motor at all.

I get what Basinbum is...

RE: Great Planes Shoestring

Rick,

If I remember right you didn't put this plane together. Do you think mounting the engine too far forward would cause more nose overs? I realize you would compensate by adding tail weight...

RE: Great Planes Shoestring

Rick,

I guess it was in another Shoestring thread where it was suggested to screw on the canopy. I must of missed the suggestion on the cockpit.

As far as the nose over goes, mine has...

RE: Great Planes Shoestring

Jnorton,

I believe it was suggested using pan head screws to hold the canopy to the cockpit and not the cockpit to the wing. I usually use pinstripe to attach my canopy but on the Shostring the...

RE: Great Planes Shoestring - GOO!!

I've had good luck with Acetone. I used it when I stripped one of my planes that had that adhesive backed shelf paper on it. It left glue residue all over the wood but the Acetone cut it. You just...

RE: Let's see your work shop!

I had also heard to store them nose up. The reason I got was to keep whatever was left in the crankcase from sitting in the bearings which is what would happen if they were stored nose down. Is...

RE: Let's see your work shop!

Here's my shop.....I call it the bomb shelter. It is a 22 x 24 room that sits under my 2 + car garage. I have to admit that it takes some getting used to the thought that there are cars sitting...

RE: NIMH charging problem....I am cursed!!!!

Well, both of the batteries came up an additional 90 mah to just over 900 mah. This was the third cycle. I guess as long as I'm getting an improvement I will continue. I did hook the meter up in...

RE: NIMH charging problem....I am cursed!!!!

Hi,

I got them from www.batteryspace.com but they don't list the brand of the cells. Normally I have gotten Sanyo cells but I've been having some longevity issues with them. These came highly...
