RE: Pen for use on balsa

I use .5mm and .9mm pencils with 2B leads. From lightest to darkest the leads go 4H, 2H, H, HB, B, 2B. The leads also get softer as they get darker so you don't need to push so hard. 2B is the...

RE: What is the largest aircraft to have been flown first person ?

There were RC B17's used in WW2. They were aircraft that were past their use by date and were packed with explosives and flown by RC from another B17 into an enemy ground target. The RC aircraft took...

RE: Need help with a tug

There was plenty French ordnance involved ;) and apparently the French resupplied the argies with more of it during the conflict which I'm sure did wonders for Anglo-French relations [:'(]

RE: Sig 1/3 Spacewalker

Very nice, great job on the cockpit and that engine is exquisite! I have plans for a 1/4 DR1 waiting for me to start on and a Laser 180 to go in it. I also have the Spacewalker kit waiting to be...

RE: Fuel Pump Ideas???

32oz @ .6 oz/rev = 53.33 revolutions. Assuming you crank at 1.5 rev/sec = 35.56 secs to fill a 32 oz tank, thereby saving you 5.56 seconds per fill.

Assuming 5 flights per outing and 40 outings...

RE: Hostetler Pitts 35%

5/16" aileron movement? Where did you get that from? I've just double checked my plans and I don't have any recommended control throws for any of the surfaces on there. For the 1st flight I'd be...

There's this one and also this one - both of which are the Hostetler 35% Pitts.

You've seen this build thread I assume? A number of guys in here have started to build one but I've not heard of...

RE: Glue Allergy?????

Yes, it's possible to develop an allergy over a period of time. A ex neighbour of mine used to work for a company making fibre glass moldings for cars - spoilers etc. After a couple of years of doing...

RE: Wheel sizes

If I've done this right there should be a pdf file attached that has what you want for the Spitfire, P51, and PT19 and lots of other aircraft. I came across this sometime ago and kept it because it...

RE: 1/3 Scale Pitts Build

mmmm, I think you're right that mild steel would be better. I had planned to use music wire like you, but thinking about it now, mild steel would be plenty strong enough and much easier to work with....

RE: What's the approach to charging?

I didn't do the poll as my option isn't there. I use a Triton 2 charger and a 12v supply in my workshop to cycle my batteries and finally charge them over 90 minutes or so. This charger also comes to...

RE: What type of Rx batteries do you use?

4.8v 2700 mAh NiMH for me and I use a battery checker before every flight. The checker has 3 green LEDs, 4 yellow and 3 red - I only fly if it's in the green. The reason I use NiMH and not NiCad is...
