I have a BVM Ultra Viper flying on an OS .91 with gear doors so it is pretty clean.

Question 1: What kind of speed increase could I expect by going to a BVM.91R over the OS.91?

Question 2: ...

Excellent point from both of you. The classes above were what was kicked around with the AMA. I see no reason to limit anything here. I think AMA preferred broader classes, but if they aren't...

Photo of BSE 90L FIRE. Outrageous specs!

Sounds like he did build you a great one! To me that's the Jett test. In fact just to start the old .90L, you had to remove the plug, go full throttle, put a towel over the head and hit it with...

Question about speed estimating speed

The only real way to check model plane speeds are with stop watches, radar and GPS. The present method I prefer is the use of GPS. It's handy and seems to be pretty darn accurate.

The size...

Photo of BSE 90L FIRE. Outrageous specs!

Dust Flyer,

That .90L Patriot has a retactable gear and running with a tuned pipe. The photos were taken at the time of test flights still running on Jett's tuned muffler. The first Jetts had...

Dolly details

Mpriestley,

The second shot here is of the dolly from behind. Yeah a lot of wear marks over the years, plus the dolly makes startup of your plane a breeze! Note the horizontal wear marks from...

Dolly Details

Mpriestley,

Not through the bottom of the plane. That's what I did the first time and it results in unpredictable takeoff's. Many broken props.

Hope you can see these images ok. The plane...

Weston Magnum - Destroyed on First Flight!

M Priestley,

You are correct on the reciever setup. Seperate battery pack Rec. and servo to operate the nose wheel.

Keeping the plane on the dolly was the hardest part to work out...

The steerable dolly

Nope it's not pretty, but you can correct for the torque of a .95 on takeoff, plus no chance of crashing the plane even if the engine sputters with a rich needle.

Have you ever used the hinge sealing tape on your Whiplash by ACM. I assume it is used to cover the hinge gap. Does it work properly?

Great design! Do you happen to have a shot from the front, especially to see the profile. Doesn't look like much pressure drag there to me!
