RE: Trash-talking-free Engine Question(I hope..)

I had both LRP 30 engines. Honestly, the carburetor alone on the truggy version is worth the extra money for the ease of restarting the engine. I could not tell a nickel's worth of difference in...

RE: K 5.9 really that bad

Been a while since I posted, also ran a lot of fuel through the K5.9 engines with no troubles, other than bearings, seals and carburetors. I check my engines much closer than most though and would...

RE: picco .28 p3 in a savage xl

^^Good advice^^ You need heat to properly break it in. Running them cold does no good the first time they get hot....

RE: picco .28 dead spots while full throttle

While you are checking things out, take a really close look at the bellows that cover the end of the slide. The accordion looking plastic bellows. Sometimes a hole worn in them or a small crack will...

RE: broken connecting rod

The pistons and rods are junk in the K engines, always have been. The Axial 28s and 32s have the same problems. It is nothing new, if you search,we have a lot of piston and rod history on all of...

RE: Up to you members!!!

Picco 28s rock! I have the LRP 30 and a Picco 28 it is not. No experience with the Ofna 32, but I do like their .28. Tib can teach you more Picco tuning tips than anybody I know of. I need to try...

RE: proline body question

He is looking for an XL body, I had several 72 Chevy bodies from Proline on the XL. Look in my photos. Glen

RE: So I took the plunge, and bought a Clocked Picco...

Bore/stroke ratio and superior ability to flow air. They are excellent air pumps.... it does not matter though, we cannot run the 28zx in our Savages and the 30vg is an entirely different animal. Glen

RE: need to put new engine in HPI savave 4.6 X

If you go LRP 28, Thunderbird Junkie and Herr Savage are good people to be in contact with. I like OS engines, but not their 30VG. It seems rpm limited and prone to sleeve failure.

I noticed...

RE: clocked picco in xl

I have experience with all four, the LRP 28, the LRP 30, the LRP 30 with their insulated carb off of the truggy version, the stock Picco and the modded Picco. I found the Piccos much easier to tune...

RE: massive crashe

The failsafe requires battery power, your problem could have been from a battery wire, battery failure, connection, or the switch. The failsafe is great when there is a radio problem, but it is just...

RE: the worlds best truck turns out to be worst

You may not have a third needle, in fact nobody has a third needle. Depending upon which engine you have, you may have a mid range screw, which is problematic. The K4.6 and the K5.9 engines have this...

RE: So I took the plunge, and bought a Clocked Picco...

I also found that a 17/47 gear on a 5" to 5.5" tire will give you all the speed the Savage chassis can handle, unless you are going to run on smooth pavement. They are a load of fun and stupid...

RE: So I took the plunge, and bought a Clocked Picco...

I agree with Tib, when I ran 17 or 18 bells in the XL I had to grind on the chassis plates and the fins on the block to get the bell over far enough to get proper mesh. Here is a stock Picco 28 on...

RE: So I took the plunge, and bought a Clocked Picco...

The problem I had with gearing up for speed with the Piccos, both modded and stock, was cooking the clutches. They are pretty brutal in the low end. I could not keep a three speed working behind a...

RE: this should make the ol' savage rip

The 30 in an X ought to keep you running to set it back on its wheels! All three of my LRP 30s had a load of pinch and were slow to break in, just do not rush it too much. Glen

RE: Savage spur gear

If you are running short tires, like 5.5" or less, that will be a pretty low gear ratio. You will have lots of power, but not much speed. Great for short tracks, jumps, deep grass, rough country...

RE: Savage spur gear

A lot of spur gear failures are from clutch bell bearing failures. Keep an eye on those... Along the same lines, I think a lot of clutch bearing failures come from spur gears being too tight. Glen

RE: whats wrong

TBJ, You do have a good point. He should take a really good look at clutch bell bearings. I have seen those things last less than a tank before.

RE: savage 4.6 rtr w/3speed tranny

The 1-2 shift is hard to get right. If it was set up for the XL, it is probably shifting way early. If I was guessing, you are getting the 1-2 shift right off idle. I have set them so tight they...

RE: Problem keeping engine running

You cannot be serious! The guy said his engine was mint, the truck looks new, so for some small mechanical adjustment, you kick back a sale. Post your buyer name so I do not sell to you. It is that...

RE: Savage X starting HELP

Not a lot of information to work with, is it popping at all? Could be a plug in the fuel line or at the needle. It is common for engines to sit wet and have a jelled plug in the main needle that does...

RE: whats wrong

It would be pretty early for clutch failure. I agree with Argess and the cold weather tune. I would suspect glow plug getting weak as well with the rich break in settings. Watch this video, tune your...

RE: lrp 30?

The Force is a dream engine, easy to tune, good power. The carb is silky smooth. I need to run it more, but it was really promising when I was running it. I have a new video camera now after somebody...
