RE: Sky-Runner E240

Hi Ed

Yes I had to cut out the opening on the no 2 bulkhead (where the back of the brushed motor was), to get the 2s battery all the way forward.
Balanced it about the same as the 3s option, a...

RE: Sky-Runner E240

I have tested the Skyrunner brushless setup with 2 cell lipo batteries. Even cheap Loong max 1300mah 2s fitted right up front behind the firewall.
Still very flyable and lighter, however the...

RE: Rascal 40 conversion

If the AXI is too expensive there are less expensive options. For example I'm looking at a KD36-12XL motor and a 40 or 60 amp H-wing (OEMRC) pentium or shield ESC from Hobbycity for a Kyosho Tiger...

RE: LIPO SUBSTITUTE

Yes the stock brushed setup and Nmhi batteries are a bit anaemic.
The lighter lipo helps a lot, I would time the flights and check how many mAhs required to top up the batteries, to figure out a...

RE: Kyosho Tiger Moth: Electrified and fly on Phasor 45/3 with pic

Hi I have just purchased a Kyosho Tiger Moth, unused in original packaging & box. 1375mm wing span (54").

I am considering electric motors, Hobby-Lobby used to recommend AXI 2826/12, 40amp ESC,...

RE: Sky-Runner E240

Nope you have to swap the speed controller to a brushless one. I used an 18 amp Dynam one that came as a combo with the motor. I have several other of the manufacturer in this link (they are sold...

RE: Sky-Runner E240

Hi Ed

I like your clean installation, had followed the link back to your build. But also like the direct drive, it's a bit quieter without those straight cut gears.
Was just a spur of the...

RE: Sky-Runner E240

This motor is sold under different brand names, I originally bought them as Dynam from a local supplier at twice the price.

RE: Sky-Runner E240

OK I've gone brushless, what a difference!
My solution was to fit a small direct dive brushless, a KDA22-10s. I filled the hole in the foreward bulkhead where the gearbox used to sit, and mounted...

RE: Lipo Fires?

I store and transport all my lipos in a fireproof bag just in case they go thermal. Only battery that has done that is a factory made pack of Kan 650 Nmhi cells that decided to short internally and...

RE: Honey Bee FP flying time and store?

Thanks, I was trying to say that my so called "Strong 370 motor" is perhaps not as strong as others. I did not bother to water run it before use.
The brushless conversion is interesting, I have...

RE: HBK2 - TO GET BRUSHLESS OR STOCK?

Thanks for the advice, I guess the manufacturers are only providing static or bench test figures. And you never know what you are buying, if you are new to Helis.

RE: HBK2 - TO GET BRUSHLESS OR STOCK?

Hi I've bought a KD KA400H 3500kv from HobbyCity for $13.25 with discount. I'm wondering what pinion gear to use, probably a 10 tooth?
I think an 18 amp esc is all that is required as operating...

RE: Honey Bee FP flying time and store?

Nope not starting a war. My Heli must have the "weak 370" main motor instead of the STRONG one.
My experience is stock Nmhi bad, Lipo up to 1000mah good (flyable), 1300mah and above barely lifts...

King 2 standard elctronics?

Hi I like the low price of the Honeybee King II.
It should be fine to further my heli education in the back yard, going from the HBFP?
Everyone recommends get the Trex, but it is a big jump in...

RE: Honey Bee FP flying time and store?

I don't know where you get your data??? "Lipo's start out at 8.4v and work down to 7.0 to 7.4"
The Hyperion battery data sheet shows discharge curves for their "high quality" lipos. They peak at...

RE: Honey Bee FP flying time and store?

Nope it won't fly on a 88 gram 7.4 volt lipo. Barely flew on 8.4 volt Nmhi at 88 grams. It's a power to weight issue. The lipo has less voltage but compensates with much lighter weight, and better...

RE: Honey Bee FP flying time and store?

Hi I have the EK1H-E004, Honey Bee FP mark II.

It was hard to fly on stock 8.4 volt 7 cell Nmhi battery, as did not have enough power. with the dumb charger, I was either under or over charging...

RE: 1.5M Ptero-X Thermo Glider

Thanks for the information. I've looked at this model online and thought they looked nice, and wondered how they would fly.
Luckily for me I've stuck with World Models Sky Runner and Sky Walker,...

RE: Esky HBFP 4 channel TX - batteries

Hi Guys, sorry I checked my cheap batteries and they are NiCads, not Nmhi.
They last fine, but not as good as my other TX battery packs. It is a pain to have to remove than to charge 4 at a time.

RE: Esky HBFP 4 channel TX - batteries

Yes 600mah dosen't sound like much but will last for some time in a tx. My Tower 6ch tx's only use 700mah Sanyo Nicad packs, but last several flights of an electric glider no problems. Over an hour...

RE: GWS Beaver/Moth b/less upgrade......

I have a beaver that flew for 12mins plus on 6 cell kan 650 Nmhi. No weight added to balance, just look at your esc and receiver placement to balance.
A 2s lipo should give you great flight time...

RE: GP Electic Fokker DVII

Don't you have to charge a receiver battery anyway?
I charge four lipos and take three or four electric planes to the flying site and fly for ages, OK it helps that at least one...

RE: GP Electic Fokker DVII

Yes mine flies at half throttle, takes off before you know it, and will all but hover (probably will on 1300 battery).
The rudder is too small for a good knife edge.

I like to try to fly it...
