+1 on the pull start option. much lighter, less stuff that can fail and you can easily carry a glow igniter in your pocket to re-start the engine anywhere it may die. better than carrying another...

if you race on pavement only when it's a dry day, this filter is probably pretty good. however most people don't run under those conditions all the time. i have no confidence in a paper type filter...
