RE: EAA museum, Oshkosh, some pictures

Another aircraft I liked especially was the Bugatti racer.

Story goes, Bugatti (yes the race car guy) built this plane in the basement of a furniture factory in France. It was covered up, and...

EAA museum, Oshkosh, some pictures

I wasn't sure where to post this. But settled on this..

Why? Because if somebody wanted to scale some interesting planes, I've got a couple nominees.

I went to the EAA museum in Oshkosh...

1:14 scale Douglas DC-4, CMSmith Plans

Hello,

I'm looking for a set of plans for a Douglas DC-4. 1:14 scale. I ran across a reference that CMSmith Plans had some. Even got to their web-page catalog...

I tried contacting...

RE: Twinstar Geometry

Make sure the bend is far enough away from the end, so when the servo arm is at the far end of it's forward travel, the push-rod still clears the servo body.

RE: Slow Poke 40, need landing gear measurements

Thanks for sending the LG...

I'm going electric on the slow-poke. I'm to the point where I'm ready for initial balancing.. hence the gear.

RE: *** The Toledo Show 2013 ***

Any new biplanes?????

Something about 36 - 40" span, where a 40 would be about the biggest motor you'd want to put in it....

Just "A sweet little flyer."

RE: Rebuild old trainer

Heat should do the trick..

Find a starting point, pick at it to get something to hold onto (pliers if it's too close to heat).

I'd prefer an iron over a heat gun for this.

Pull on the...

RE: Slow Poke 40, need landing gear measurements

Thank-you for the info...

I did some measuring of the plans.. and my plane.. and your numbers match what I came up with.

I'll let you know..

Slow Poke 40, need landing gear measurements

Hello,

I'm finishing up construction of a Slow Poke 40 kit.

I bought an unfinished kit a few years back and I'm getting back to working on it.

Anyway... I either lost the landing...

RE: Minnflyer

Yup.. that's me..

Mike had the honor (sad as it turned out) to maiden two of my planes at a fun fly.. (crashed 'em both)...

I'm pretty sure it wasn't intentional... either that or he...

RE: Minnflyer (AKA Mike Buzzeo) has unexpectedly passed away

Like most here, I met Mike on-line. I had the fortune of talking to him in person a handful of times.

He even flew/crashed two of my planes. (I'm sure Mike is laughing at that.)

I truly...

RE: Twin Cities Auction (Minnesota)

I remember the pieces of paper moving along...

That's a great idea.

For the very most part, I think the pace of the auction, and how things were moved along went much, much better than...

RE: Twin Cities Auction (Minnesota)

I wouldn't agree to restrict the number of items. No matter if you make the cut-off 5:30, or 2:30, people are going to start leaving early.

I had a couple items wait for the late 10 or 20 as...

RE: Twin Cities Auction (Minnesota)

I left around 6:30, I think. There were 7 or 8 airplanes left.

Each year is different. Fewer Piper Cubs, fewer unfinished kits, fewer big engines, fewer engines over-all, fewer tired and worn...

RE: mounting a large brushless need mount help

Worst case scenario...

You can make stand-offs from scrap plywood. Just cut into squares, maybe 1/2" (or 3/4") square, and drill holes in them. You gotta have some scrap ply lying around.. yes?...

RE: Sig Hog Bipe Build

Just a thought....

When I was at a fly in last year, I had my Hog Bipe. I think mine was the only bi-plane at the field. Sure, it wasn't a scale D-VII.. But a biplane none the less.

I had...

RE: Sig Hog Bipe Build

I've used small pieces of painters tape to mark where I wanted to place coating. It's easier to position than coating, you can move it, and one done, it pulls off.

RE: *** Ultra Sport Brotherhood ***

85 vs 90.

This has been discussed on other US60 build threads.

If memory serves: It was determined that the angle of wing in only 1 or 2 degrees. The five degree difference is more then...

RE: Phaeton 90 Build Thread

Agreed...

An addendum, to the instructions and drawings wouldn't be a big deal for the "expert builders" who choose to add ailerons to the upper wing.

But retooling to change the cuts of...

RE: Phaeton 90 Build Thread

In general principle, I would agree with you. But there's also the saying "If it works, don't fix it."

I don't know if Balsa USA has a laser or not, but the tooling is probably bought and paid...

RE: 4 Star 60 build question

I've used hatches and magnets like Seamus has. It's wonderfully simple, and works very well.

The only trouble I had was the magnets would sometime pull out.

So, if I might suggest, use the...

RE: GP Slow Poke 40 to electric

It has been a while...

But I finally figured out how I wanted to handle ESC mounting and cooling.

One of the distinctive features of the Slow Poke is the curved "chin" of the fuselage. I...
