My Albatros transmitter has a range of only 15-18 feet. All batteries test O.K., both in the plane itself as well as in the transmitter. My antenna was folded down (as in so many 2.4 ads), as well...

Jay, you might want to check out this posting on removing oil from wood. I haven't tried it myself, but it's worth a shot. Sounds pretty radical, and you may want to try it on some scrap wood...
