do you know www.flightlinegraphics.com ?
They can provide you proper paint masks; the only thing you have to do is to give the correct dimensions of the insigna you have to paint/spray.

I believe that if my Alb flies so well in 1/6 scale in a bigger scale (1/4) it should fly only better

As from 1915 J. Lagorgette drawings:
upper wing +6°
lower wing +6°
Stabilizer +2,5 -3° (with possibility to adjust this incidence +/- 1,5°)

No, my Albatros CIII is from my own plans; 1/6 scale and all the angles , incidence and wash-out are like the original; the airfoil also is from original 1915 drawings.

In my Alb. CIII i have the CG position at 22% of the chord of the upper wing; a bit nose heavy but a lot "safe" in particular in the landing

I think that some color paint cream or mild brown could help to reduce the transparency; but I'm not sure.......
I did the job with a very thinned cream color onto the stright Koverall not bad...

I did the Patee crosses on the Albatros CIII exactly as you have described; the only difference was that I have used a female pattern and the pen was a Staedler draughtsman ink pen.

In my CIII I have used Sig Koverall, coloured with multiple sprays of 50/50 nitro car dope and clear varnish.
