RE: Saito 180 problems

Nice looking ship.... I can see why you have the 20" stick on there.

I can't see the engine overheating from lack of air flow, but the symptom's you describe sound like it could be a heat...

RE: Saito 180 problems

Can you post some pic's of your engine installation?

You stated, " I have never adjusted those" regarding the valves. Valve lash almost always has to be adjusted after the first few tanks at...

RE: O.S. 7D vs 7M Carb

The 7M is a three needle carb with the third needle adjusting the mid-range. If I recall, they both have the same bore.

RE: Magnum Pro 46 SE vs Magnum 46 XLS

You probably just needed a O-ring kit for the carb. I bought my SE used. Ran like crap at first. There is a double o-ring with a relief on the spray bar at the fuel inlet. Debris tends to collect...

RE: Magnum Pro 46 SE vs Magnum 46 XLS

Don't quote me on this, but your Magnum Pro 46 SE is an early Thunder Tiger engine made in Taiwan. A far better engine in terms of quality than the XLS 46 (China) but may not be quite as powerful?...

RE: Which Engine? DPM Ultimate

The YS 120 AC would be the best choice if you're determined on running a 1.2 ci. four stroke in the Ulti. This plane weighs in at 12-13 lbs and there is a lot of drag being a bipe. A 1.2 will fly it,...

RE: Which Engine? DPM Ultimate

Nothing less than a Saito 180 or YS 160 DZ IMO. Keep it simple, keep it light with lots of power. Do a search in the ARF forum, lots of tips there.

RE: Engine calc program or info.

OS offered 61 size FSR two strokes with gear reductions back in the early 80's. They can be found for sale occasionally here at RCU, "Z"bay or RC Canada. I believe they had a weight in excess of 30...

RE: Which is the best glow engine

No....planting it 6" 's into the dirt is a good thing! Chances are you didn't bend the crankshaft because of the soft dirt. The big no-no here is NOT to turn it over by hand. Just cover your thumb...

RE: Which is the best glow engine

Welcome to RCU.... I don't think the problem is with your Evo engine as any engine can be tuned to die after 15 minutes of flight. I set my High and Low speed needles with only a few ounces of fuel...

RE: OS Surpass cam bearings stuck!!

This is a slide hammer that I made up. It was made from a 6" long #8 bolt. The lip is turned -.002" under the bearing bore and is +.002" on the bearing width. The lip is only about .020" wide. Just...

RE: YS 160 DZ

The 160 DZ would be my first choice. They are thirsty units thou and like a diet of 20+% nitro.

Any mail order outfit (perhaps Tower Hobbies) that handles Slimline products should be able to...

RE: different tru turn adaptors for Saito 180

If the overall length and thread length on the crankshafts are the same, I don't see why both would not be interchangeable? Earlier 4 strokes had shorter crankshafts which did not use a second...

RE: ADVICE NEEDED Supertiger and Magnum Quality

Thunder Tiger engines are manufactured in Taiwan. I've probably ran three times as much fuel through my Pro 46 before I replaced the bearings in that one. My Pro 36 is one of the finest running two...

RE: ADVICE NEEDED Supertiger and Magnum Quality

Stay away from the Magnum 52 XLS two stroke. The carb. on it is N.F.G. along with the bearings and bushing fit on the con-rod / crank pin. I replaced the bearings on mine and was going to replace the...

RE: Thunder Tiger .36 pro???

Excellent engine for the money. TT's have one of the best carb.'s out there IMO. Very strong engine for it displacement and weight. Turns an APC 10 x 6 @ 12500 on 15%.

RE: Saito 180 vibration!!!!!!!

Welcome to RCU....

The problem is not only related to Saito engines. The problem is a steel header threaded into an aluminum head. First off you have to de-burr the header pipe with a...

HFP-10 Internal Batt.

Hello Mike,

I purchased a HFP-10 programmer in Feb. 06 at the Puyallup show from a vendor there. I noticed no display at that time when switched on. When I got home I charged it at 100ma for 15...

RE: Unusual RPM and thrust on the Saito 180

Sounds like this engine may need a little more break-in time? How much fuel have you ran through it?

I know of one 180 that has similar issues. This engine was purchased used and is not pulling...

RE: Is my Saito 82 gulping fuel?

What size prop. are you running and at what RPM? I run a 12 x 8 and a 13 x 7 on mine in the 10500 RPM range. Using throttle management, my 82 burns about 1.1 oz. / min.. I would say you are in the...
