Typhoon 2000 vs 2+2

Hi All,

I'm preparing for my winter build and have to choose between the Typhoon 2000 and Typhoon 2+2. I have plans for both and wanted to know the differences between the 2 planes.

Aside from...

I’ve been using a diy remote glow for a few years now. All in all there’s probably 3 feet of 20 awg wire from the battery to the plug and 3 feet of wire from the mounting lug back to the battery. I...

RE: Dirty Birdy

Thanks for the detailed explanation, Sprinkler T. I would have thought the jig would need more than just clamps to hold it securely to the wing, but if you've done it successfully, then I'll have to...

RE: To Model Airplanes News Collectors

Hi Guille,

I'm happy you found the article useful. I also thought this design to be very cool.
Without having purchased the plan itself, I traced the magazine scan in a Cad program. I'm...

RE: To Model Airplanes News Collectors

I don't have MAN from 1992, but I have some scanned articles. Are you referring to the Elliptic-40 by Alex Bouknight?

RE: Dirty Birdy

Sprinkler,

I like your Router Jig. Never occured to me to make a big one to do both LG block and servo hatch cutouts. And they're reversible so you can do the other wing as well.

How do you...

RE: My Wood & Foam Bridi UFO Build

Hi Ralph,

I haven’t been on RCU for a few years now, and after revisiting this site, came upon your build thread. Congratulations for such an impeccable build! I, myself have started a foam...

RE: Vacuum pump

Combatpig,

I got my Airtrol F 4200-x10-b85 vacuum switch from a local dealer for $21 probably 8 yrs ago.

This switch is adjustable from 0.5" - 10" hg.
Deadband is fixed at about 1" hg.

RE: Vacuum pump

Try a one-way valve between your vacuum pump and reservoir. That way leaks from the pump are isolated from the rest of your reservoir and bag.

You can find these in the aquarium section of...

RE: looking for someone who can print modelcad plans

Hi Jim,

The quickest solution for you is BKDavy's.

Google CutePDF, download and install the software. This is a print driver.
Once installed, when you choose Print from any program, the...

RE: Starting a 4-stroke engine

I, too, am partial to electric starters. Especially on the first start of the day when engines can be particularly balky.
However, there are times when getting to a starter is inconvenient, such as...

RE: Anyone build a Rutan Q2/Q200?

Hi Red,

Thanks for pointing out the difference.

I've always been interested in the Quickie. I purchased the 1/4 scale plans from RCM, but never built it because it looked kinda "boxy". Then...

RE: eyeball help

Hi Dave,

I can't help but think that there's some resistance in your aileron servo setup.

I'm reminded why I'll no longer use the center aileron servo setup. So much that needs to be...

RE: eyeball help

Hi Dave,

Sorry, I've been out of town last week.

Did you go with the "classic" single servo in the center of the wing installation or one servo per wing half?

If classic, how is the...

RE: eyeball help

Dave,

I'm afraid I can't remember the throws I used for my first Eyeball (this was built per the 1969 Man Plans).

In the version I have now, I have elongated the fuse, and increased the...

RE: eyeball help

Hi Dave,

My Eyeball rolls much faster.

You're not trying to roll at slow speed are you?

I can't tell from the picture, but you could also try to seal the aileron hinges if you haven't...

RE: Dual aileron servos

Careful with that 3 position switch.

I inadvertently left the ailerons in the "up" or spoileron position on takeoff.

The plane got up to speed, but just wouldn't take off. As I neared the...

RE: Unusual interference

Hi GWheeler,

Last stab.... Have you tried replacing all your servos and extensions?

Wouldn't hurt to substitute the battery as well.

Not fun, but it seems you've eliminated everything...

RE: Unusual interference

Have you eliminated the Transmitter as a possible source of your problems?

In other words, have you tried another transmitter on a frequency and RX that you know works?

I'll second the TME Auto Trickle Adapter suggested by Danh4, but even better is their

You can select different charge times up to 16 hrs before going...

RE: charging NMH on trition

Is your max charge set to 1000 mah?

While you're at it, verify your time limit is also off.

What's the rate you're using for charge?

RE: Wal Wart Voltage Question

RCNut,

Thanks for the info.

I rechecked my readings with a cheap analog multimeter... trouble is, it was so cheap I'm not sure I trust these figures at all.

However, all the readings...

RE: Wal Wart Voltage Question

nikg,

To be sure, measure your current as you charge. You'll have to hook up your ammeter in series.

I've found that numerous chargers/AC adapters do not deliver their rated specs. I'm...
