RE: Flawless maiden

What kind of rpms are you getting with that OS120? With a 10 pitch prop and assuming 100% efficiency, it would have to be turning 12,672 rpm in the air to get to 120mph...

RE: g26: metal clevis on throttle arm safe?

I'd use a plastic clevis or plastic ball link connector. A metal clevis isn't needed for strength and using a plastic connection eliminates this as a possible trouble spot for interference.

RE: CMP/GSP Spitfire

I would not go with a 91 in this plane. I have a Saito 100 in mine and consider it to be marginal. Plus, a lot of weight will be needed up front with a 91. A 120 would work much better.

RE: cm pro/gsp corsair with gas engine ?????

I put a cork in the exhaust and a plug in the vent line at the field before heading home and there is no gas odor issue either in the car or at home.

RE: Help With Warbird Wing/Stab Incidence

I use the Great Planes laser incidence meter and it includes instructions on how to perform various measurements. The plane does not have to be perfectly level to make the measurements. The meter...

Info on Twin Spark Gas Engines?

Does anyone have information about twin spark gas engines? I see that 3W offers a twin spark 75. Do both plugs fire all the time, or only at certain rpms? What are the advantages of using a twin...

RE: Help With Warbird Wing/Stab Incidence

Problem solved! Thanks to all the suggestions provided here. I removed 1.5 degrees of the wing incidence, leaving about 0.5 degrees of wing incidence relative to stab incidence. This reduced the...

RE: Help With Warbird Wing/Stab Incidence

Richard L. -- In general, is it best to try to get no incidence difference between the stab and wing on a warbird? It sounds like that was what you were considering when you located the holes the...

RE: Help With Warbird Wing/Stab Incidence

sbd-5,

Thanks for the suggestion. I can see how this would improve things in certain respects, but not others. For example, I can see how this would help during inverted flight and reduce the...

Help With Warbird Wing/Stab Incidence

Hello,

Does anyone know what the wing and stab incidence should be on a GSP Spitfire?

Right now I am at +2 degrees on the wing relative to the stablizer and the plane needs a lot of down...

RE: best way to refuel/pump gas?

I have been using a plastic can with filter and hand pump from Jersey Modeller and am completely happy with it. I think it was around $40, but came completely assembled. It's a nice setup.

RE: ROTO 25...yeah or nay?

I am happy with mine and only had the one issue with the shim that RCShowcase fixed for free. Otherwise, it has a rock solid idle, nice transition and top end. It has good power and has never quit...

RE: Roto 25

Raston,

You did a beautiful job on the Spitfire! The Roto25 fits in there real nice. I just flew mine this morning and reminded myself how much I enjoy flying this plane. How does it perform...

RE: Roto 25

Bob,

Sorry to hear about the loss of your P-51. That sounded like a great combination. I think you are right about the Roto25 not being enough engine for the H9 P47. Luckily, there are other...

Three Point Landing Question for Spits and Hurris

Do full scale Spitfires and Hurricanes make three point landings on hard runways, such as pavement or concrete, or do they land on the mains and rollout. In movies such as "The Battle of Britain"...

RE: Roto 25

Hi,

I tried a Master Airscrew 16x8 and it seemed to be in the right rpm range after adjusting the carb settings, but it didn't pull the plane very fast.

I have not observed the lateral movement that you described. I ran it yesterday and specifically checked for it after running. Perhaps a call to RCShowcase or copying this post to the...

Ian,

Thanks for the continued development work on the retracts. They look stronger than the blue units I have with my Hurricane. Do you happen to know whether the new retracts are likely to be...

I had a similar experience as Bruce. The very first time I tried to start the engine (brand new), I could not get enough fuel draw for it to start. I ended up squirting a little fuel directly into...

RE: Roto 25

Hi Bob,

According to the chart in the FAQ on the RCShowcase website, those symptoms indicate a lean condition on the carb "L" mixture. Perhaps richen the "L" mixture a tiny amount.

I got a call from RCShowcase today with an update on my Roto25. It turns out the engine did not seize, but the hub was pressed up against the case, making it feel like it was seized. They took the...

RE: Roto 25 oil mix

Hello Fredde,

The U.S. distributor RCShowcase recommends 32:1 (about 3%). They say you can go to 40:1 (2.5%) after a few gallons of fuel. They also recommend using a high quality 2-stroke...

RE: Jury In On KMP Hurricane?

I put heavy fiberglass cloth and epoxy where the firewall meets the fuselage on the inside. It provided a lot of extra strength.
