RE: F-27 Stryker dolly?

I hate hand launching, so I built a dolly for my Stryker. Works great. Don't touch the controls and it flys straight off. Angle of attack is set at 8 degrees. The little crank is for windage...

RE: Vintage R/C Plans 9' Catalina PBY-5A

Well, I scrapped the use of levers and springs to close the gear doors and opted for cylinders and a sequencing valve. The installation is complete and now I can remove everything to paint the...

RE: New .90 gas engine (15cc)

I read some bad reviews of serevice from Nitro Planes so I have also looked at the TF P-47. It has a much more open cowl. The cooling would probably be much better. I also like the flaps and...

RE: New .90 gas engine (15cc)

Heli-NuBee
How is the engine working out in your Nitro Planes P51? It seems that some people are having a lot of dead stick landings with fully cowled engines.
Can you post some photos of the...

RE: Vintage R/C Plans 9' Catalina PBY-5A

Well, I am having great difficulty getting both gear doors to work. I am not sure it can be done with springs and levers. How have others done it? Separate servos or air cylinders on the doors? ...

RE: Vintage R/C Plans 9' Catalina PBY-5A

One of my big concerns with this build has been how to close and open the gear doors. You have previously seen the graphic of my design. Now it has been executed. I have done the starboard door so...

RE: Vintage R/C Plans 9' Catalina PBY-5A

I couldn't figure out how to do and out and up, so I went with a long arm. That makes the door move mostly out and not pivot as much as a short arm. I am only loosing about a quarter of an inch of...

RE: Vintage R/C Plans 9' Catalina PBY-5A

I have been working on a waterproof box to contain the nose gear retract unit. That wasn't too bad to figure out, but the next question was how to open and close the gear doors. I have been using a...

RE: Vintage R/C Plans 9' Catalina PBY-5A

The wing area of this model is 9.72 sq ft. Fred says the weight with the retracts will be in the 25 pound area. That gives a wing loading of 2.57 lb/ft2. My Extra 300 has a 9.06 sq ft wing and a...

RE: Vintage R/C Plans 9' Catalina PBY-5A

I have just started my PBY build. The first thing was to mock-up the main landing gear retract unit so I could get exact installation dimensions. The attached video link shows the Century Jets...

RE: Vintage R/C Plans 9' Catalina PBY-5A

I plan to build the PBY this winter. I have been studying the plans and have a questiion. It looks like the 1/4 inch fuselage box is sheeted with 1/16 balsa at each former. It is shown as a line...

RE: New .90 gas engine (15cc)

Hey regets ama - Have you tried a three blade prop? I am going to build a 108 inch PBY this winter and want to use two of the JBA J15G. However, a 12 inch prop is the lafgest that will clear the...

RE: Introducing The New 50cc Extra 300 ARF-QB!

I am using Real Flight G5 and the Extra 300 that came with it. However, the simulated 300 takes full rudder and full power to knife edge. That doesn't represent my 50cc Extra very well. What are...

RE: Introducing The New 50cc Extra 300 ARF-QB!

A snap is caused by one side of the wing stalling before the other. Thus the wing that is still lifting produces the snap roll. If all controls are neutral except elevator, then it could be that...

RE: Introducing The New 50cc Extra 300 ARF-QB!

I am using HS-7985 servos (one per wing half) at just a little more than half the torque of the 7955 and see no problems.

RE: Introducing The New 50cc Extra 300 ARF-QB!

Here is the location of my choke servo. It is the one mounted near the center of the fuselage and lower than the throttle servo. I also have a DA50 and this location works out fine.
