Hey Josh,

I'm actually using Emachineshop's CAD software. I don't have access to a CNC myself but they offer machining services. and they're right in NJ so I can go there if needed.

Thanks...

If I can get 20 people they'll be around 35 bucks each to buy separate, possibly 60 for the set. To make the first prototype it will cost me...

Yeah CNC is sweet for making nice parts.

I have a monsoon shocktower I can engineer off of..... I'll work on one, there is not much difference except the holes for the upper control arms are...

RE: Upgraded Chassis

Cool, I just finished a design for a hurricane front shock tower. I used 5 mm thick 7075 T6, with some CNC machining done to lighten (weighs 21.4 grams)

I'll get some pictures up when I figure...

RE: How "notchy" should my diffs be?

I'm not inside the diffs. on the outside of the diffs there is a ring gear that runs around the outer circumference then the drive cup with the pinion gear that goes to the "dog bone" coming from...

RE: How "notchy" should my diffs be?

Well I think there is a definite problem here. :(

I think the gears in the center diff are all crunched up :(

The front wheels are now pretty hard to turn now with an ever more present...

RE: How "notchy" should my diffs be?

Yeah I know about the upgraded towers. I just don't think the aluminum redcat uses is all that strong. If soft damp dirt bends them, I'm sure some hard pack would bent the upgraded ones too.

If...

RE: How "notchy" should my diffs be?

I decided to take the engine out of the equation... So I took it out...

Still makes the same noise... so its not gear mesh.

Am I chasing a ghost? are the diffs really that loud?

RE: How "notchy" should my diffs be?

There is a tiny bit of play like you said. maybe too much?

the gears have a slightly polished face to them.

I would say I have about 1mm of play while holding the spur gear.

RE: How "notchy" should my diffs be?

I took the center diff out and it seems fine... I think the noise is coming from the CB and spur gear. could it be a mesh problem? perhaps too tight?

Any help would be great.

Thanks in...
