RE: 8fg super differential motor control

Thanks Bax for your response. That is how I thought it should be, however I am having a problem achieving this. I am of the old school and find it very difficult to negotiate the modern electronic...

RE: Balsa USA Citabria Pro 2008 build

Rick - Solved the remote glow by shortening the run. The remote glow connecter is now on the bottom of the cowl directly connected to the engine and plug.
Slow roll rate - My aileron throw is 1...

RE: Balsa USA Citabria Pro 2008 build

It's been a long time coming but atlast I got the Citpro airborne. After a bitterly cold winter the 'spring' was very wet and windy so now we've jumped to summer which means it's bloody 'ot. Why did...

RE: Balsa USA Citabria Pro 2008 build

Well we're ready to go. Switch/charger and remote glow located in cockpit. The cowl is screwed to the firewall internally, (a long driver through the cooling vents). Moving the firewall back 1"...

RE: Balsa USA Citabria Pro 2008 build

It's good to see you back Rick - I was afraid that you had given up on the project.
While the wing size was a consideration, my main reason for slicing and stiffening up the wing, was to reduce the...

RE: Balsa USA Citabria Pro 2008 build

A little more progress on the cit-pro to report.
Changed out the landing gear hold down steel bolts for larger nylon ones. Cut the belly pan at the landing gear leading edge and fixed the tank bay...

RE: Balsa USA Citabria Pro 2008 build

Thanks wings for your comments.
I started with the engine angled as you suggested but found that it's positioning was very critical; but more of a problem was the square engine mount. With the...

RE: Balsa USA Citabria Pro 2008 build

The only way that I can fit the magnum 180 within the cowl is inverted, and by raising the thrust line as high as possible. The rocker cover is a tight fit in the oil cooler area so it may be...

RE: Balsa USA Citabria Pro 2008 build

Replaced the 'orrible green and yellow plastic covering with red and white solartex, then found a problem. The cowl is too small to hold a larger 4 stroke.
It is only 5 1/2 inch deep. Adequate for...

RE: Balsa USA Citabria Pro 2008 build

As previously noted, I got this plane already framed and I cut the wings into 3 pieces. I have made joiners and refurbished the ribs where I cut. I also installed shear webbing between the spars for...

RE: Balsa USA Citabria Pro 2008 build

Here's a couple of pics.
1. The fuse as received in green and yellow,- I intend to re-cover, most likely in red with white trim.
2. Wings after slicing into 3 pieces.
The main joiner is...

RE: Fabric covering over foam?

Solar tex is not suitable for foam applications as the stick/shrink temp is too high and will melt the foam. I have used Nylon over foam and there is a lot of good info on this in the 'combat' forum.

RE: Gnat - I'm running out of props!

The old nylon 'unbreakable' props use to carry a similar warning. After prolonged use they would go brittle and be prone to break. They could be revived by boiling in water.
