yep that way the wear on the brushes and the com are touching good for more flow of electricity and less arching witch can result in power loss.... welcome anyother questions feel free to ask

the brushes for these motors ar not expensive however if you are going to replace them you should solder them on to the endbell, a step you could try is to go to your lhs, get a can of motor cleaner,...

same thing has just happened to my motor buy new or clean the old brushes and bend the spring more to get a really good tension on the brushes if that helps lemme know hope it does,,,, good...
