Serial Telemetry Rx not connecting to Pixhawk

I am trying to connect a Spektrum SPM4649T serial telemetry Rx to a Pixhawk drone controller. I can get it to bind, but the controller says it sees 0 channels. I tried connecting it to the RCIN ,...

GP Pitts with OS FT-300 power

I too am considering an OS FT-300 for the GP Pitts. Does this engine hold up well to lot's of hot dogging aerobatics, ie, how does it like flying inverted, doing snap rolls, Lomcevaks, etc? Any...

Question about Geebee R1 cowl

Schu
I spoke to someone recently who flies a 1/4 scale Gee Bee R1 with a G62. He says it has flown successfully several times, but is a dog to land. I think his plane weighs 22 lbs.

Mine is about 3/4 complete. I'm at the painting stage, and this week will put a few coats on the fuse and wings. The tail feathers are already painted.

Hostetler 25% Gee Bee R-2 Finally Finished

VoughtF4U:

That's a nice looking job. I'm currently building a Henry Hafkke 1/4 scale Gee Bee R1, so I can relate to what you went through to get to this point. It's more work than meets the...

Elevator Horn

smchale: I made something similar for a quarter scale plane, but I made the horn from a 1/2 inch brass bar. I left the entire width of the bar for a hole for the U wire, and machined the horn down...

gee bee

gpman:

That's a beautiful looking Gee Bee.

Have you flown it yet? What scale is it? What's the weight, and engine size?

More details would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Any air tool oil or just Marvel's stuff as after run oil?

I've been using Mobil One as after run oil for years, and it has worked great. Being a synthetic oil, it won't damage O-rings and rubber diaphrams found in some engines such as YS makes.

I've...

Question about Geebee R1 cowl

OK, I read this thread and said ouch! I am also building the Haffke 1/4 scale R1, but I cut our the entire circle in the center of the cowl. Just seemed like the right thing to do at the time.

Securing access panels

Thanks for all the replies, folks.

I ended up using the magnet approach, using two miniature magnets from Radio Shack. Worked like a charm.

Since I don't want any "handles" on the exterior of...

Securing access panels

I'm adding a 3"x3" access panel to my Gee Bee R1. I hinged it at the top with pinned nylon hinges.

My question is how to secure it? I've looked at various latches and methods of keeping it...

Byron R-2

I'm thinking about powering mine with a Zenoah G26, which I estimate will have about 15 to 18 lbs of thrust. I'm making the assumption that this much thrust will pull an 18 lb airplane fairly well....

1/4 Fokker DV111

lazyace:

I built the wing upside down and made it flat on top. That seemed like the best way to do it. The underside of the wing tapers upward to the tips, and that's how it gets dihedral. Be...

Hostetler 25% Gee Bee R-2

VoughtF4U

What is the expected weight of your Gee Bee?

In talking to Henry Haffke, he advocates keeping the weight as low as possible, and NOT overpowering it. By that I think he means keep...

What is the target weight of your R-2? What engine are you planning to use?

I'm building a 1/4 scale R-1 from Haffke plans. Looks like it will come in at 18 lbs, and I'm looking...

1/4 Fokker DV111

There was some mention of a D VIII with 98" wingspan. The 1/4 scale wingspan is 84".

I built one from a combination of Effinger and Bob Holman plans, but found scale inaccuracies in both that I...

Use real skiis

For something that big, use real skiis. Go to a yard sale, buy up a cheap pair of old skiis, and cut them to length. I saw this done on a 14 ft wingspan Telemaster, and they worked great.
