Hobbyking c17 Globemaster

Hobbyking recently listed one of these on their site. It's pretty sweet looking, but no retracts and limited control surfaces. I imagine it would make a nice project plane.

Specs:
Wing Span:...

RE: THE Official Traxxas E-REVO Thread

This sums up a stadium truck pretty nicely Wikipedia - stadium truck. A short course truck is pretty similar but the body covers the wheels like in a real car and the wheels are usually smaller. As...

RE: THE Official Traxxas E-REVO Thread

1. Please, please, please! Type in proper english.

2. The Newbright cars are toy quality, which means they're almost exclusively integrated systems, which means you just can't upgrade any of the...

RE: E-maxx 3908 is for real people!

Looking at old threads really puts things into perspective, huh?

RE: Would reducting ducted fan jet velocity increase efficiency?

You do realize that static thrust usually means sh*t, right? I'm talking about increasing efficiency in the air, you know, where you actually fly the plane.

RE: Would reducting ducted fan jet velocity increase efficiency?

Pray tell, good sir, where does the energy from that fast moving air come from?

RE: Would reducting ducted fan jet velocity increase efficiency?

How does increasing the inlet velocity affect your flight times for a specific battery?

RE: Would reducting ducted fan jet velocity increase efficiency?

So, the higher the absolute velocity of the inlet stream, the higher the efficiency?

RE: Would reducting ducted fan jet velocity increase efficiency?

Mostly dynamic. As airspeed approaches the speed of the jet of air accelerated by the prop (small diameter ducted or open), efficiency approaches it's possible maximum. I figure if you lower the...

Would reducting ducted fan jet velocity increase efficiency?

After doing some aerodynamics research and reflecting upon previous responses to similar questions, I have come to the conclusion that if you can reduce the absolute velocity of the thrust jet from a...

RE: THE Official Traxxas E-REVO Thread

I don't think any foams are made specifically for the e-revo, but you should be able to put some together using big enough donuts and a 17mm hex rim. The only difference I have been able to discern...

RE: THE Official Traxxas E-REVO Thread

That's what I was thinking, what with the chunky tread blocks. But now, I might have to use some sort of street treads since we just had to move to California...

RE: cheaper mini lst2 receiver replacement?

I was actually quite surprised by this factor actually being minimal. I ended up buying a 'gt3' 2.4g piston radio from hobby city; the shipping was only about $7 and it took less than a week from...

RE: RC helicopter gyro as drift control system on E Firestorm

If your truck rotates and its not supposed to (like when you grab a lot of throttle and it starts going in circles), the gyro makes the servo move so the truck stops spinning. That's overly...

cheaper mini lst2 receiver replacement?

Does anybody know of a receiver that is compatible with the radio system on the mini lst2 that doesn't cost $50? For a unit that simple and small, I suspect that a somewhat reliable facsimile could...

RE: Why are ducted fans considered so inefficient?

The amount of information I got for my simple but controversial question is amazing. I personally have come to the conclusion that DF are less efficient because of a combination of higher internal...

RE: Why are ducted fans considered so inefficient?

That could be so, but a more blades could be turned proportionately slower and net an exponential drag decrease for the same amount of thrust.

RE: Why are ducted fans considered so inefficient?

Wow, this thread is a lot longer than I thought it would get. I got my answer a while ago. My solution would be to shorten the ducting preceding the actual fan.
