RE: KMP Beaver e-power conversion

Yeah, flew her quite a bit. Flew just like a scale beaver, had to fly the rudder, 1/3 throttle cruise, no Super Cub floater here . She was pretty slippery in the air. I sold the plane to a bud of...

RE: Global/VQ 1.20 size Turbo Porter

MM, here are the pics of the DuBro 6 inch inflated tire and pump set up. DuBro doesn't sell a pump, they just give you the tire and valve filler. You use a piece of fuel line and stick their valve...

RE: Global/VQ 1.20 size Turbo Porter

They are easy to inflate, they have a small tire valve that you screw in and you use a small basketball/football hand pump. Takes about 3 pumps. You use a section of silicone fuel tubing over a cut...

RE: Global/VQ 1.20 size Turbo Porter

I have been running the DuBro inflated tires on a 1/4 scale super cub and my Beaver with no problems at all. They hold air very well and are easy to inflate. I probably wouldn't run them on a plane...

RE: Global/VQ 1.20 size Turbo Porter

After mormon Mike commented on my post, I figured I'd post up my e-power conversion of this plane. I'm running a Monsterpower 160 on 5000mah 9S lipo, HV85 ESC. Solved the axle strut clamp issue by...

RE: VQ Pilatus Porter E-Power conversion

That's what I love about electric, it doesn't care about altitude. It's full power at the flick of your thumb. I'm flying much heavier planes on basically the same combo and have plenty of power....

RE: New Giant Scale 118

She weighs a tad over 18 lbs AUW with lipos. I hadn't installed the fairings on the LG yet, so it looks funny:D

RE: New Giant Scale 118

Thanks:D It has DuBro 6" inflatable tires. I also have them on my 1/4 scale Pilatus Porter. I'm big time into bush planes and these bad boys sure smooth out the landings. I'm patiently waiting for...

RE: New Giant Scale 118

I took another look at the pics and it does appear to have panel lines and rivets. The fuse/wing profiles look accurate, but the lack of pilot/co-pilot doors and the missing smaller side cargo doors...

RE: VQ Pilatus Porter E-Power conversion

Here's the latest CG related info: I built a new floor section under the dash and played with the lipo locations. With the lipos all the way forward against the fuel tank bulkhead, the plane balances...

VQ Pilatus Porter E-Power conversion

Working on a new e-power conversion 1/4 scale VQ Pilatus Porter. I'm running a Monsterpower 160 motor 245 KV, HV85 ESC and 5000mah 9S lipo (3 each 3S lipos in series), Atlas AMM500 motor mount. Here...

RE: RC Guys Super Decathlon coming

No idea why you had to cross the cables. Cable tension should be snug, not overly tight. Too much tension will eventually damage the servo.

RE: KMP Beaver e-power conversion

I have the float kit for the beaver if you want it. I'm not planning on flying off water any time soon. I have it advertised in the giant scale classifieds. PM me if you're interested. On the other...

RE: KMP Beaver e-power conversion

Thanks. I'm assuming the wood is thick enough in the wing to support this type of insert. Is it hardwood, ply or balsa in the wing? I haven't drilled the wing yet, which is why I'm asking. I agree...

RE: RC Guys Super Decathlon coming

Gotta agree with you on venting the cowl. I vent all of the cowls on my e-powered planes, some less than others (style points:)) Serves the same function as the gas powered planes. It's easy on a...
