RedDwarfIV I like how your canopy is coming...

RedDwarfIV I like how your canopy is coming out also. The clear should be nice so you can add detail on the inside. Here is a short YouTube video with several touch and goes. ...

RE: Northstar mods - Tell me what you think

Beautiful airplane. Please keep us updated on how the first few flights go. I'm wondering how the V bottom works.

RE: Northstar mods - Tell me what you think

Hey, I finally got a video of my Coast Guard Northstar. Several touch and goes with a very high AOA at the end for a landing. I call it the stop and plop. Last winter I flew at Bakersfield and did...

RE: Northstar mods - Tell me what you think

Wow, that electric one of Laddy's is very nice. I really like the looks of the cleaned up pod. With the fuel tank eleminated, there is lots of room for speed control and elevator servo for direct...

RE: Northstar mods - Tell me what you think

I think you will be just fine with an electic .55 motor. You will save about 2 oz in the pod with no tank and the motor might or is lighter than the .55 engine. My pic's start on page 5 and go...

RE: Northstar mods - Tell me what you think

All great ideas about keeping it light. Becarefull about how much you lighten up the tail. Lots of stress just behind the wing on the fuse area. I put a hole in the vertical tale plywood for my...

RE: Northstar mods - Tell me what you think

Very nice. I bet it shows up very well in the sky. I really like the Balsa USA and North Star on the wings. It's the little things that make a plane jump out.
I need to have a bright color job...

Lil Hoss, Lets see some pictures. Glad you built one and that the tips and pictures everyone has done has helped. Welcome to the world of kit building. Sounds like you went with the balance aft...

RE: Northstar mods - Tell me what you think

I'm using a Thunder Tiger .07. Swings a 6 x 4. I've installed a 2 oz tank and the 2 servos in the tail. The radio and all the push rods are the same as the big Coast Guard. I'm adding the wing...

RE: Northstar mods - Tell me what you think

aa1a, Your balance sounds about the same as my NS with the fuel tank empty. Please let us know how it flies at the float fly this weekend. I would like to know where this float fly is as I live in...

RE: Northstar mods - Tell me what you think

Looks great on water. Did you move the C/G aft a little? If so did it help? Wes

RE: NEW DLE30!

whitey84, That's a good looking plane. Yellow is not one of my favorite colors because I don't seem to put a good color scheme on a plane with it. I only use yellow for trim. You did Yellow as a...

Your first flight sounds like mine.
Beautiful job on the plane. Good job on the first flight. Mine has only seen water. My first flight was scary also. TOO NOSE HEAVY. I pulled...

RE: Has MonoKote formulation been changed?

I agree. Stop complaining, If you like it, great, show what you've done. If you don't like it, buy the other stuff, cover your plane, be proud of it and show us your work, tell us about what went...

RE: Has MonoKote formulation been changed?

I've been reading this post for over half a year. I still use MonoKote without any problems to speak of. It has been a little more stubborn in the corners and has required more heat. The higher...

RE: Northstar mods - Tell me what you think

The leading edge's are extremely important part of the lift created by the wing. The F-16, F-18 all have them. I would not even think about leaving these off. The benefit and time required to...

RE: Northstar mods - Tell me what you think

Here are my two favorite pictures. Notice on landing just the rudder is touching the water. This gives a good idea of the nose high angle when landing. Hope this helps you guys.

RE: Northstar mods - Tell me what you think

Sorry it took a couple of days. The balance I'm flying now is 1 inch behind the printed CG. This is getting close to the neutral point of the plane. Inverted flight is now possible without tons of...

RE: Northstar mods - Tell me what you think

I think that having the provisions to shift the balance aft is a good idea. I had to drill out some lead as my plane was very nose heavy on first flight. The balance is about 1 and 1/8 back from...

RE: Northstar mods - Tell me what you think

Well, I finally got some pictues of the plane in the air. Here it is just touching the rudder on landing with the nose high.
As for the post from TSP27, I've been thinking about your mod...

RE: Northstar mods - Tell me what you think

Your plane is looking good. I had my plane up for a quick flight this morning. The air was getting rough quickly as the wind was getting into the canyon. Keep up on your pictures as you progress.
