RE: Need some help here!

Sheet the wing first, and then add the fiberglass afterwards (like a bandage). On the other hand, the manufacturers are pretty good at determining when the additional fiberglass re-inforcement is...

RE: Covering tools required?

Don't forget a pair of gloves when working with the heat gun....

They have +ve and -ve impact. Plus side is that they keep you from burning your hand if you blast it with hot air. Down side is...

RE: Where to add weight?

Another thing you could do is shift the enging a bit further forward on the engine mount. This will make the engine's weight more effective.

The best bet though is to move as much of your static...

RE: How dangerous are scratches in an APC prop?

As for dumping props .... it is recommended that any "damaged" prop be retired (whact constitutes damaged is different for each person...). Throwing it in the dumpster is not good enough though. It...

RE: My first build... she's done!!

Don't worry about orientation. This plane does not have a massive roll rate, it tends to fly level, and the high-wing and fin make the orientation easy. You'll find it easy to get right. (it flies...

RE: flaperons

Flapperons *may* help, but you will need to be able to take-off and land before you set up your flapperons.... i.e. Flapperons require some "fiddling" to egt right, and the effect is not predictable...

RE: My first build... she's done!!

That looks great. nice PT-40. Youll like it lots. Mine has so many flights on it now, and 4 planes later I still fly it more than the others (instructing friends and family).

You did well with...

RE: Another ...Why?

It boils down to a couple of things.... safety, and convenience.

The Spitfire is cthe classic example. All Mk's of the spit prior to the XIV, I believe, used the Griffon engine, which was "left...

RE: Futaba 6EXA

That is what I have been trying to say.... you *can't*. I was a beginner 18 months ago. I am on to my 4th plane. The EXA (6 monts old) is not able to adequately fly it.

RE: Futaba 6EXA

Perhaps I expressed myself wrong, perhaps you mis-understood... You can not have 1 servo per elevator half. YOu need a *reversing* "Y" harness, and then trimming is not possible short of mechanical...

RE: Futaba 6EXA

Skip the EXA and go with a 7Cap, Eclipse, or Optic. It has limitations in the wierdest of places ... i.e. no dual-servo setup on elevator.

Revisions on edited messages

Not so long ago (seems like a few weeks) I was able to see a history of the messages as edited. Did the feature "disappear" or am I going senile?

RE: Crash repair...

Pictures would be good....

On the other hand, I would be inclined to "fiddle" the fuse together so that you can get the two parts to fit back together (inter-weave all the broken fibers) as best...

RE: PT-40: Help fixing a binding nose gear steering wire

No problem.

The main gear is (I believe) DuBro "Dural" .40 size gear. it was $14 canadian at the LHS. I got great planes axles, and 1/4-20 nylon bolts to mount the gear to the fuse.

I...

RE: HITEC OPTIC

You did fine.

no goof there. You are in the "beginners" section, and there is nothing that TX can't do untill you are "experienced".

RE: servo sense

The receiver only meddles in the affaires of the signals being sent to the servos. The actual power is delivered through a common power "bus" on the receiver which can take a lot of current...

RE: Retracts

Retract servos are either "up" or "down" there is no in between. The servo travels through 180 degrees (as opposed to 60 degrees for normal servos). Retract servos are not proportional, so EPA will...

RE: PT-40: Help fixing a binding nose gear steering wire

Yup ... been there, done that.

Here's my solution ... before and after.

The binding as not as much of a problem as the control-arm on the nose-gear bending and flexing so much. Also,...

RE: .25 size engine question

Inverted is fine. You will probably find your plane is designe for an inverted engine.... you never know.

There are some down-sides to inverted install (no pun intended...).
Setting the idle...

RE: Saito 82 plumbing question

Plumb the tank to the muffler, and then put a short length of fuel tube on to the nipple on the crank, and let it dangle free. I'm not kidding.

The Saito is a 4-stroke, and as such, it has a...

RE: Futaba 6EXA and 7C, big difference?

Just to say that I had a 4YF with my trainer, and got the 6EXA for my second plane (with dual aileron servos that I wanted on seperate channels rather than "Y" Harness.

This worked well for my...

RE: Which .46?

Opinions are rampant on this discussion.

To generalise them: The OS LA series are not worth it given that for very little extra you can get much better alternatives. The OS AX is good, but is it...
