RE: Saito - Pro FG 14 Tips and tricks only!!!

agree with the 1.5 turns out - but it is touchy, just a nudge in one direction or the other should make a big difference. There is a possibility I suppose that your carb needle/spray bar is getting...

RE: Saito - Pro FG 14 Tips and tricks only!!!

concern yes - problems no. There is an installation recommendation to keep the UBEC as far away from the RX as possible and the [2] 6v outputs are wrapped around a ferrite ring all for interference...

RE: Saito - Pro FG 14 Tips and tricks only!!!

2700 mah for your ign battery seems like overkill to me - something smaller [1000 or so] likely work just fine but be careful with too much voltage - some sort of regulator may be needed depending on...

RE: Saito - Pro FG 14 Tips and tricks only!!!

just sold the FG. IMO Saito has a carb design issue that as far as I know has not been solved. Think there is a reason why everybody else seems to be using a Walbro [or Walbro variant]carbs. Too bad...

RE: What Aircraft are you installing your DLE20

Sorry can't really offer an opinion - simply no familiar with the Glasair and, for that matter, how it's built. Both Dubro and Thunder Tiger make a decent isolation 120 size mount - available thru...

RE: NGH 9cc

I had 3 problems with my GT17:

1. an out of spec crankshaft that squeezed the front bearing everytime I tightened a prop. Start the engine and it would fry the bearing. Jim Willis at Agape...

you get what you pay for.... buy V1 wait and buy V2...this is why most NGH threads are half dead.
I don't know why do you always recomend his crap products everywhere he doesn't...

RE: NGH 9cc

NGH, as you know, makes engines with unique features and in unique sizes. The GT9 is definitely one of these products that the assigned distributors would very much like to sell if they were allowed...

RE: NGH 9cc

have a similar problem here in the US. Agape R&H is the NGH distributor. I bought a GT17 from them and am now pleased with it in large part because of the service and advice I got from Agape. Would...

RE: What Aircraft are you installing your DLE20

no, using the DLE not so much about plane size as it is about plane construction. There are numerous 60 size planes the DLE works fine on - not to mention the DLE a common choice for 60 size...

RE: What Aircraft are you installing your DLE20

my bet would be the 4s 90. The model you are looking at is large [81 in] but very light for its size and built accordingly. Same applies I'm guessing to the WM Super Stunts 60 I've flown which I did...

RE: What Aircraft are you installing your DLE20

doesn't sound like you need a lot of help. Have nothing against YSs, have spent the money on a few myself. IMO THE engine of choice for 60 size warbirds is the DLE 20 preferably with a 16x8 [or...

RE: What Aircraft are you installing your DLE20

a Phoenix Edge 540, 65" WS, 9.5 lbs after adding 8 oz nose weight. Flies well, a decent ARF for the price and a good fit for the DLE

RE: Saito - Pro FG 14 Tips and tricks only!!!

wonder what they actually did - or if it addresses the carburetor issues that I've had with this engine. The only way I could keep mine running right was with new carbs. At $100 a crack an expensive...

RE: Saito - Pro FG 14 Tips and tricks only!!!

As you may have gathered, I have given up. Your descriptions of all the special handling and adjustments you have to do strike me as well considered and entirely conceivable. Still believe though...

RE: Saito - Pro FG 14 Tips and tricks only!!!

although I am not running my FG-14 right now - you have 2 needles to adjust - the main needle opposite the throttle arm and the low speed idle needle which is the small brass screw in the middle of...

RE: Saito - Pro FG 14 Tips and tricks only!!!

wish it was that simple. the low speed needle is set at the factory at flush to the throttle arm and works fine there for engine starting and idle - which should be about 2100 rpm. Starting and...

RE: Saito - Pro FG 14 Tips and tricks only!!!

doubt seriously that you'll be able to straighten out your HS needle. There is a critical fit at the spray bar and actually both needles that I would bet you'll not be able to duplicate bending...

RE: Saito - Pro FG 14 Tips and tricks only!!!

my fg-14 was on a GP UCanDo 46. finally have given up on the FG14. Saito was nice and repaired it [new carb] the last time it wouldn't run, and it ran relatively well [9k, 14x6] when I first got it...

RE: Saito - Pro FG 14 Tips and tricks only!!!

'asking Saito to fix it'
and they likely will - my guess is that you have a replacement carb in your future - working great for me. Keep us posted - sent my engine in and had it back repared in a...

RE: Saito - Pro FG 14 Tips and tricks only!!!

if your clunk doesn't move freely from its normal back & bottom of tank location when flying upright - would it not then starve for fuel when nose down?. This is somewhat the problem I have with all...

RE: Saito - Pro FG 14 Tips and tricks only!!!

also just ordered 6. Tore apart a 400cc tank that I was running a 17cc gasser through and the neoprene lines might as well have been #10 bolts - they were that stiff. I had been using the neoprene...

RE: Saito - Pro FG 14 Tips and tricks only!!!

Wow - a 24 oz tank on a FG14 - talk about overkill - even at full throttle you figure to be staying up over an hour! Fly all month on a single tank perhaps? Well beyond my attention span:)
Must be...

RE: Saito - Pro FG 14 Tips and tricks only!!!

Ditto on what Pete is telling you. Carb is VERY touchy both needles, often only a click or two either way. Fly mine with a MAS 14x6 and will use a tach for tuning. A little rich on both will yield...

RE: Saito - Pro FG 14 Tips and tricks only!!!

agreed, David Chow [NGH] a good example of where we are heading - small 2 stroke gassers all the way down to 9cc [.53ci] with prices hundreds less than typical OS/Saito numbers. David delayed his NGH...
