RE: Hostetler 33% Decathlon

Marcus,
BTW, I would be interested in how your customer anchored the tow attachment into the airframe. Does he have a picture or two for reference?

RE: Hostetler 33% Decathlon

Marcus,
Looks like the SD is going to be use as a sailplane tug. I have a few of those and was something I was considering to use the 35% SD for. Since here you need a tow to get to thermal...

RE: Hostetler 33% Decathlon

Marcus,
Well it sounds like there are two seriously looking to build a 35% kit. as I have said before, I like the look of your SD. And with a DA 100 the performance would outdtanding.

RE: Hostetler 33% Decathlon

Marcus,
I have been throwing around the idea of scaping the WH SD and going with one of your planes. With the scale changes I am almost doing my own design. But if you are thinking about a 35%...

RE: Hostetler 33% Decathlon

Well I plan on building more than one SD myself, and Marcus has a very good looking product. If I wasn't in the middlle of my chances on the WH SD, a kit from Marcus would be very high on the list. I...

RE: Hostetler 33% Decathlon

I did come across a door on one particular SD I would not have thought would have one, Greg Koontz's SD that is used for his shows. So one would think the door is quite reliable and remain closed...

RE: Hostetler 33% Decathlon

In my researching the Decathlon/Citabria I have not seen the door on many planes, but in the articles it has been said the addition of side door is a god send. As one person mentioned the difficulty...

RE: Hostetler 33% Decathlon

The frame has not changed for some years. A few exterior changes here and there depending on the model, but one can use the main outline.
The CD is on the way.

RE: Royal Plan Set Pitts S2 - A Couple of Questions

Many Pitts get modified by the owner/pilot per their liking. You can find many different rudders, such as the modifications for airshow pilots for more controls surface and throw. Take a look at...

RE: Decathlon

I have the Wendell Hosetler Super Decathlon plans, not a scale aircraft plan but a good flyer. I prefer something more scale so I am in the revising stage right now. If a true scale build is what you...

RE: Hostetler 33% Decathlon

The plan is to improve the out line but not go crazy withthe details. In building the 33% WD SD will give more insight into the process for the 50% SCALE project. I will NOT be doing a tube frame as...

RE: Hostetler 33% Decathlon

Ken, found the post and did some measuring (17.5 vs 19.4), I can see the diiference. I have a fairly large order placed with Bob's aircraft Doc so I am looking forward to the reference. I have toyed...

RE: Hostetler 33% Decathlon

Greg - that´s every modelers wish.
I would ask Ken about the right increase as he scaled it out on the 33% long ago, although he didn´t actually make the mod. He measured it after the plane was...

RE: Hostetler 33% Decathlon

Kellermann/Marcus, I had not gotten to the Fuselage yet, but something about the profile did not look quite right. Now that you mentioned adding height, you have me looking in that area. I will have...
