I put T-rex 600 canopy mounts on mine. I hated fighting the stock rod mount, much easier now. They come with a stud instead of a screw mount that the 450 mounts have. I put them in the stock location...

Have you tried mounting the ball in one hole on the servo arm? Sounds as if the gyro is over compensating with the faster servo and the shorter rod travel may fix that.
