Matt, those stingers come in two lengths! there are shorter ones with 4mm shafts.

RE: Need help on 40c, 50c, 65+c ratings..

The discharge C rating of a lipo tells you what is the max amps the pack can put out. These values are many times exagerated by the manufacturers so the acutal C rating is almost always a bit lower...

RE: Norbert's 1.1m balsa cat build

Don't know what motor you should use, but look for something that's in the 4+ kW range.

RE: Norbert's 1.1m balsa cat build

We must clearify something here.
It's not the prop size/pitch that's the first thing to make a boat faster, but power is.
Power = Voltage * Current

RE: Norbert's 1.1m balsa cat build

Those 1400KV T600 Turnigy motors are good. I bought them while they were only $30 + sh, now they're $60 +sh but still worth it.

RE: Norbert's 1.1m balsa cat build

Which motors to use depends on how many cells you will use to power them as well.
The 1400KV motors I used push the boat to around 100km/h.
In my next build I'm going to use 1760KV motors and...

RE: Norbert's 1.1m balsa cat build

It's not the length of the outdrives but the distance from the transom to the prop what matters.
I read/learnt from others that this distance should ideally be between 12-15% of the length from...
