RE: Rock Crawler Help

If your friends all have scalers then you would probably have more fun with one of those. Scalers are super capable, but unfortunately can't do some of the same things that a comp-style crawler can....

RE: Rock Crawler Help

Well, we're going to need a little more information in order to help you. Ask yourself these questions:

1 - What's your budget for EVERYTHING? Meaning the crawler itself (either kit or ready to...

RE: Rock crawling help !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The rc4wd rig you listed is a comp rig based around Bully 2.2 axles. If you're planning on comping...a rig with Bully axles is a nice, strong choice. Again, if you want scale looks, that's a terrible...

RE: Rock crawling help !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All 3 of the crawlers you listed are shaftys. If you're looking at going for a scaler...why not buy a scaler to begin with? It's pretty likely that if you converted those rigs to a scaler that you...

RE: RedCat rs10

You'll need a lipo cutoff or alarm...the stock ESC does NOT have one built in.

RE: Looking to get into Scalers

You can put just about any 1:10 scaler body on a Honcho.
I don't think they make a bed section for the front half of the Honcho body, though

RE: ESC Question

If you're saying your rig lacks power or torque, I highly doubt changing your ESC is going to make much of a difference. The RS10's suffer in a few different areas in their stock form. Primarily the...

RE: Body For RS10

You have a couple of options with putting a scale looking body on a RS10. Option #1 - mount the body to where it sits normal, then chop the hell out of it so the tires don't rub. Option #2 - raise...

RE: ESC Question

When you say your RS10 has a "weak ESC", what do you mean? The XL-5 will work fine...but it doesn't have a drag brake. So when you're on an incline and release the throttle, your rig will roll...

RE: Best way 2 run twin motors?

A FXR will run 2 motors...plenty of MOA guys do it. You'll need some sort of Y wiring harness to connect both motors to the wires coming off the ESC. Like this one:

RE: Crawler

Agreed 100%. I've never understood waterproofing a crawler...it's not meant to be a submarine. It's pretty cheap to find a good crawler specific ESC with a drag brake. Roosters are awesome and I also...

RE: wanting a new crawler

I definitely understand and I'm a big fan of buying used crawler parts and rigs. Most people, however, probably aren't gonna be searching for used ax10's. It's a good thing to buy used, but if you...

RE: wanting a new crawler

Unless you already have an ax10, why would you waste money buying one if you're just gonna transform it into a scaler? You could buy an scx10 and have the same axles and transmission and get what you...

RE: What truck(s) are all the scale guys using?

Keep in mind, you don't have to limit yourself on what bodies you can use. With a little bit of work, you can mount those tamiya bodies to an axial based scaler. The scx10's are great scalers and...

RE: venom creeper

Yes, you can mount a scx10 chassis to creeper axles. Depending on the wheelbase you want, you'll probably need new links. The shocks are also probably gonna be too long...so you can either limit them...

If you're planning on running the thing in snow and mud, you might wanna look into waterproofing your electronics.

RE: Rock Crawling, Wanting to get started

Aftermarket tires do work on the creeper stock beadlocks. I've got a buddy who used panther cougars on his for over a year until he upgraded to aluminum wheels and I've seen plenty of other people...

RE: Motor turn count vs. torque

An ESC doesn't have to be a "MOA ESC" to be able to run 2 motors. Tekin FXR's, Holmes Hobbies BR-XL's, CC Sidewinders and Mamba Max's are all compatible with MOA rigs. You can also run a MOA rig with...

RE: looking 4 a cheep remote for 4whelsteer.

I'm pretty positive the flysky fs-gt3b won't run rear steer. I own one and the 3rd channel is a push button on/off type of setup.

RE: shocks>

I'd check your LHS to see if they have anything that can get you going quicker. Otherwise, the Losi shocks are nice, or something like traxxas big bores. I wouldn't suggest getting another set of...

RE: jsowens' RS10 Hellstrom rebuild

Can't say I blame you there. I only paid around $40 shipped for my motors when I got them, so not a bad deal at all. If you want more wheelspeed, I would suggest 35t instead of 45.

RE: jsowens' RS10 Hellstrom rebuild

The place I ordered them from no longer sells them, but I got mine well over a year ago. Holmes hobbies sells a pretty nice cobalt 454 motor, but they're a bit pricey...around $80 for a pair. I've...
