My first paint job!

My first paint job is complete!... basically. I just need to cut holes for air flow. It's a Proline Baja Bug body on a Savage with candy red paint backed with silver. There are some spots where the...

RE: New to working with bodies (air holes & more)

Would it need a hole in the back as well to flow through or would that one be unnecessary?

New to working with bodies (RE: air holes & more)

I recently bought a used savage 21 that didn't come with a body so I pickup up a Pro-Line baja bug body for it. I've never bought a unpainted/uncut body before so I have a couple questions:

RE: Anyone Own a Savage X?

Did you cut any wholes in the body for air flow? And if so, where?

RE: Anyone Own a Savage X?

Thank you!

Oh wow, thanks for the info. Do you know if a tank for the savage x would fit in the savage 21?

RE: Anyone Own a Savage X?

I believe I found my problem: the threading for the glow plug has somehow almost fully stripped out of the engine case. Is there any way to get this re-threaded, or does it look like I'll be buying...

RE: Anyone Own a Savage X?

So I have all the parts I need for my Savage and I finally got a chance to start it up yesterday. I found that the fuel tank pump doesn't work so I had to blow in the pressure line to get fuel to the...

RE: Anyone Own a Savage X?

I love that bug body! I found a couple on ebay, but it looks like they come in long chassis and short chassis versions (details below). Which would I get to fit a Savage 21?

RE: Accidentally ran drill-roto backwards for a few turns...

Okay thank you. That's what I was thinking, but the posts I saw seemed fatalistic.

Accidentally ran drill-roto backwards for a few turns...

So this is probably just me being paranoid, but here it goes. I've been having trouble with a roto start on a used Savage I bought, and had the idea to use a cordless drill instead. I put the wand in...

RE: Anyone Own a Savage X?

Well I seemed to have tracked down my needle problem. As per THIS TUTORIAL, I was supposed to hold the MSN in place as I adjust the LSN. I've only had a 2 needle carb before so I was just doing it...

RE: Anyone Own a Savage X?

Hmm alright I'll investigate it some more when I get a chance. Just for reference, about how many turns in from flush should closed be?

RE: Anyone Own a Savage X?

Oh okay. But my question remains, what is going on with my carb locking up? Is my needle going past seated somehow?

Is there any way I could check for damage?

RE: Anyone Own a Savage X?

Sorry for the double post, but I have an update:

The o ring was no help at all. The wand is so close to being a snug fit that not even tape can wrap around the wand to make it tighter, but loose...

RE: Wheel nuts extremely hard to get off?

Well would you look at that. It appears this is the case, and not I just have two very tight nuts and one out of commission wrench. Thank you!

Wheel nuts extremely hard to get off?

I got a used savaged last week and I've run into an interesting problem: the nuts holding on two of the wheels are extremely hard to take off. As in, they stripped out my glow plug cross wrench...

RE: Anyone Own a Savage X?

I'll take a pic of the inside of the battery box in the morning, but it's basically one wire that runs from the switch to the side of the box, one that runs to the battery, and one that runs to the...

RE: Anyone Own a Savage X?

Thank you for the suggestion. I'll consider that. It came with an rx pack but it just uses a wall charger. I'll copy over my post from the general forum to here (I didn't even think to post it in...

RE: I could use some guidance with a used truck

Thank you all for the input. The more I think about the more of a hassle the roto seems like, so I'm thinking I'll pick up a pullstart for it. The connector on the side it wired up to the on/off...
