Mine is converted to electric, added elevator. Also added wing area with trailing edge stock, as is suggested in instructions.. Thermals just fine. I have the "plan", it has full size frames and...

Just reviewing some of my old video, here's a test of 2 keyfob cams on my modified Shrike last October. She's still going on strong!

RE: SHRIKE CLUB # 1

Thanks! Maybe you can do a video too - I look forward to it

My Shrike was built light, and I usually fly with a 2200 3s, but I did try a 2200 4s. It flys fine but drops quicker with the 4s. It...

RE: SHRIKE CLUB # 1

For landing I sometimes flip the throttle if the prop is vertical, then if it's ok, land.

My plane might be more draggy than yours, but I fly a circuit at low throttle, then cut on final. It...

RE: SHRIKE CLUB # 1

Sorry for the news of damage, but it sounds repairable

No need for a folding prop, just use the hard brake setting on the ESC. I have no problem belly landing - the prop is motionless. If its...

RE: SHRIKE CLUB # 1

I run a 3S 2200mah lipo, rated at 30c. No problem with 40amps, the battery should be capable of 30x2.2 or 66amp. If you are seeing such a drop in voltage, I agree that your battery is not very good,...

RE: SHRIKE CLUB # 1

Thanks, I flew a test flight before logging, no trim needed, so went with the logger. It's a Transystem i-Blue 821, set torecord every second. We have benchmarked various planes with the logger,...

RE: SHRIKE CLUB # 1

With the 8x8 prop at WOT static, I pull 40 amps at 12volts, so 480 watt. That's with a 1500kv motor. Maybe Juan's motor is 1kw capable, but my guess it would need a bigger prop than I use to get...

Not too big, mine is the same (see previous posts) except 1500kv. I ran 8x8E APCprop, now running a 9x7 wood Zinger. Goes about 88mph.

RE: SHRIKE CLUB # 1

Your weight is not too high, if you get it to 2lb. I checked mine, it;s 1lb 11oz with a 2200ma 3s, so there's a way tosave weight. I use digital micro20g
metal gear servos, lighter than standards...

I still have to catch my breath! That's quite a combo. I have a Rossi 45 and would not dare put it on my little Shrike. Can't wait to see yours though!

RE: SHRIKE CLUB # 1

Hi!

For Electric, you should conside using elevons, one servo in each wing. That leaves lots of room in the fuselage for batteries. There's a picture of mine in a post a few pages back

Good...

RE: SHRIKE CLUB # 1

You can get a fair estimate of speed using Doppler. There are a couple of RC versions that you can use. Need flypast at top speed, as low as possible, 2sec inbound 2 sec outbound minimum. Record...

RE: SHRIKE CLUB # 1

Sorry, yes that's mph. It's the theoretical speed of the air pumped by the prop. The plane will go that fast only if 100% efficient, which none is. The good news is that the engine rpm will increase...

RE: SHRIKE CLUB # 1

Thanks! I'll let you know - For electric I like the 34.5in size. If I get around to it I'll sketch a draft and build another with elevons, but I'll make it more like the classic design to beef up the...
