RE: Aquacraft Mini Rio - Brushless

Here is video of my ex Mini Rio that my brother in law modified with cheap brushless system.
Speed is quite nice, but that hull is just not designed for high speed.

RE: HK Small Bolt Hydro same as HOTR

Hi!

Just to inform you, that long runs with 4s will fry the original motor (if you use 30mm prop).
Might work better if you replace original drive hardware as it seems to have some extra...

RE: Small motor/flex coupler 2,3mm->0.098 ?

Hmm... That is good idea to use Loctite to secure the coupler to motor shaft :-)
It seems that I can find 1/8" tube from Finland, so I will use that and some loctite to connect my Octura coupler to...

RE: Small motor/flex coupler 2,3mm->0.098 ?

I'm using 1/8" props (1.4x30mm and like).
In my mini hydro (Small Bolt from HobbyKing) the original flex is 4mm that is connected to 1/8" shaft that has larger diameter head for this flex connection...

RE: Small motor/flex coupler 2,3mm->0.098 ?

Hmm... I think that I'll try that brass sleeve.
Yeah everything here is metric so it seems that I need to make another order to OSE again.... :-)
So outer diameter is 1/8 and inner diameter is very...

Small motor/flex coupler 2,3mm->0.098 ?

Seems to be very difficult to find coupler for my mini hydro.
Motor output shaft is ~2,3mm and Octura flex cable is 0.098"
This seems to be the smallest Octura?...

RE: HOR 28

So what do you think, is 28x68mm 1539kV inrunner on 6s suitable for that hull?

BACKEMF, I will consider your offer... You are sure you will post it to Europe?

RE: Good brushless ESC for...

You can find the same ESC under Seaking brand.
I have both and they are identical exept labels.
This ESC might be bit large for some very small hull. Quite tight fit in my mini hydro.

I don't...

RE: Nice entry level boat

I don't see any sense of upgrading that when you can get similar shaped brushless boat from the same manufacturer and it's made of fiberglass..
You would still use ~50 euros for the brushless parts...

RE: HK Small Bolt Hydro same as HOTR

I have one cooling block from my Jollymotor, but it is ~10mm thick and that causes some problems...
I'll try to find some suitable ~5mm copper, brass or aluminium tube and try if I can solder U...

RE: HK Small Bolt Hydro same as HOTR

Heh... I Fried my stock motor with 4s and 30mm Octura...
But this was just good luck!

Now I installed small cheap Mystery 2627mm 4200kV outrunner to it and used it only with 1600mAh 2s 30C...

RE: HK Small Bolt Hydro same as HOTR

Or maybe just try with 4s batteries? 14,8V x 2604kV makes ~38500rpm :-P
I used two 1250mAh 2s 30C batteries in series. Works well... Altough I have different ESC.
With two batteries you can place...

RE: 3s vs. 6s setup? Jollymotor upgrade..

Is the motor and esc effeciency much better with higher voltage? High current will increase power loss with internal resistances, but is that difference big?

If you have 5000mAh 3s/11.1V battery...

3s vs. 6s setup? Jollymotor upgrade..

I'm planning to upgrade my JollyMotor boat with a 2856 or 2868 sized brushless inrunner motor. Original setup is 2836 sized outrunner with 2185kV. Runs with 3s batteries like this:...
