RE: Central Texas Jet Rally Pictures

Hi - I'm not a jet pilot, but I have been meaning to go to this since I first heard about it last year - very impressive! Here are a few photos I took as well:

Anyone done anything this stupid before???

Look at the first picture in this thread - looks electric (not positive) but it's definitely VTOL:

Estarter, tirger moth or sky scooter 2 pro

I looked at all of these for my first plane (and also the superstar ep - balsa .40 size, converted to electric - I thought balsa might be too much repair work for my first plane though), and decided...

GWS Funny Park thrust line

Yes - the dowels and rubber bands are optional - the wing stays on very well with just the screw and plastic 'snap' at the front of the wing. I chose to put the dowels in though, so I could hang it...

GWS Funny Park thrust line

Wow - that's an impressive GWS fleet! I have my eyes on an A-10, as well as the DC-3 from their web page, if they ever start shipping it...

Actually, the E-Starter was my first plane - given my...

GWS Funny Park thrust line

Cool - thanks for the info. I had not noticed that on my last plane (E-Starter), and due to a mishap with a power line (and the subsequent replacement of a large chunk of nose foam), I was unable to...

GWS Funny Park thrust line

I am building a GWS Funny Park, and was wondering about the thrust line on this plane. The motor is mounted at a slight angle, giving a thrust line that is maybe 2 or 3 degrees to the right. Is...

GWS electric fan

If you are talking about the EDF-50, then weight is going to be key. If you go by the "no more than 3x thrust for total weight" suggestion, then your model should weigh no more than 6 - 10.5 ounces,...

Trainer 4 channel

Heh - funny you should mention that. Cedar Park Hobbies (www.cedarparkhobbies.com) used to have one sitting on their shelf for $35 - they have since jacked the price up to $40, which seems to be...

10C, maybe?

I am by no means an authority on the subject, but I have been looking around at various battery packs, and there seems to be a pattern. It looks like the current rating more than anything else. ...

What battery for E-starter?

I use a rubber band on each strut, stretched between the wing and the fuselage, attached where the struts attach. Doesn't look too bad, and provides enough pull to keep the struts from popping out. ...

Don't overlook the GWS e-starter, if you have already been looking at the GWS planes - it has ailerons, costs only $35, and in my opinion, handles quite nicely. It is my first plane, and I am pretty...

Balsa Products

Ihave bought from them twice (online both times) - prices are great, shipping is prompt. Haven't had to return anything, so I can't comment on that process, but I definitely plan on ordering from...

Putting Ducted Fan Blade On Motor

Steve, you are correct - a large geared prop is more efficient than a small ducted fan. The caveat was that for the same size prop / fan, an EDF is (or should be) more efficient. Sorry if I wasn't...

What battery for E-starter?

I am using the GWS 7.2V / 350 mAh battery - I haven't timed my flights, but I would say 3 - 4 minutes or so is typical. I would go with a 8.4 volt nimh pack if I had to do it over again though - it...

My new gws ME 109

Just out of curiosity, how does the motor mount on th ME-109? I have an e-starter, and the motor is mounted on a stick (held on by a tight fitting motor mount and a small screw) which is glued into...

Putting Ducted Fan Blade On Motor

While it may be true that you can't slap any cheap motor into any EDF, you can get cheap fans from GWS, Wattage, and Wemotec (by cheap, I mean $50 or less). 7.41 ounces of thrust from a GWS EDF-75...

Putting Ducted Fan Blade On Motor

Actually, I have been looking at a lot of EDF lately, and it seems the real trick to EDF is high RPM. For this reason, it seems that most EDF use a modified version of some other motor to acheive...
