Yup, I guess the lacquer thinner softened up some of the crud and I gently removed the plate off by wedging a sharp chisel between each screw lugs and the case. No damage and the gasket is reusable....

One thing about Lipos is that you have to let them cool for a while before putting them on a charger. Don't try to charge them hot. I don't know if a power supply is the thing to charge them with....
