I'm going to second (or third or fourth) what these guys are saying. I love the variety, but 100% metal tanks aren't what I'm interested in. I'd rather have plastic tops and turrets at least.

No offense intended to those that don't battle a lot, but the above is your opinion, not reality. Many people are fine with the way the tamiya system work as it is. This is a mis-leading statement....

I'd never consider "fake fan shots" cheating. I think Bret addressed this well in the other thread, but if the system allows it, it should be legal, because you can't police it. Also, it's a game,...

I would assume .5 mod refers to the pitch. Tamiya uses 48 pitch metric gears in their tanks, which I believe is .6 mod. I couldn't tell you whether the difference between .5 and .6 is significant...

How well would parts from the static Trumpeter kits fit on the HL, if one wants an earlier version T-34?

RE: Control preference.

Also, Just to add to discussion, during the old days of competition at Danville I used to have to drive one of Jame's pershings which he had set-up for driving on the right stick, while my own tank...

RE: New Mato Metal Stug Ready for production

Put me down as against the all metal models. Plastic is much easier to work with. But then again, I don't see the point in metal tracks either. I guess I prefer keeping the tank lighter and just...

RE: Help w/ servo elevation

Also, you may not be able to get rid of the "hop/twitch" entirely, depending on which type of fire button you use. I've used the momentary toggle type (triainer switch on a futaba) and that's the...

RE: Tamiya classifies shermans as light tanks

RE: Panzer III zimmerit photo evidence?

That's awesome! Thank you very much for the scans! I've got several references and looked at many photos and had never seen zimmerit on PIII's, even though every source says the late ones were made...

Panzer III zimmerit photo evidence?

Hi, I know this question has been asked before, but none of the replies had any photographic evidence. Thought I'd check again since it's been a while since last time it was asked. I do know that...

RE: Open discussion on IR battling

I appreciate pzjr and fireman Tim for their clarifications, but I would like to clear something else up-Our style of play at Danville isn't onesided and it isn't an expoiltation of the Tamiya system....

RE: Open discussion on IR battling

Actually, Tamiya did design it to be used to avoid shots at 45 degres (outside of ten feet). It is clearly stated in the manual that comes with every Tamiya TBU! I've tanking in Danville for at least...

RE: Open discussion on IR battling

Seems like that will lead to very short battles. Also, Tamiya designed the 45 degree defense in an attempt to mimic the effect of shots hitting armor at a 45 degree angle vs. 90, since a shot...

RE: Open discussion on IR battling

Not sure I understand the desire to get rid of the 45 degree defense. Aren't you then just relying on natural cover to prevent hits to your tank?

I don't know that we'll ever please both the people who want realistic battlesAND those that like to play the system as it works with one set of rules, but I'd like to just...

Hi-long time lurker here. Ive been trying to find a thread which I'm 90% positive is on this forum, but I've had no success. I'm hoping somebody can direct me to it. In it, one member described a...
