Greased landings

Moose carbon fiber has landing gear that works well on the SE.
I used the GP extra gear. Its more flexible then the aluminum gear and retains its original shape.

Some mods

The SE does take some mods to get it right. I have an OS 70FS on mine and I think it works very well.
I put the elevator and rudder servos in the tail and the battery at the back of the servo tray....

Winging it

Could you get another pvc pipe for the top that lays on top of the wing. I would think the friction would hold it pretty well. You could have the bottom pvc fixed and the top pvc slide up and down...

Create more drag

down both elevators and then trim the elevator for level flight. This should generate more drag and slow you down faster.
