PC to R/C interface

Antialiasing.

And every sound card i've ever seen, regardless of price, has condensor power on the sleeve of the mic input. Thats why regular dynamic mics don't usually work well and you need to...

PC to R/C interface

Microphone input shouldn't introduce any delay over line level input (there isn't a bigger buffer for the mic). But yes, there may be transformers, filters and such in the way that will mash your...

PC to R/C interface

rc-cam, 2 issues:

1. whether a PC is powerful enough to generate a PPM signal in real time, i think we all agree at this point it is

2. whether a soundcard has sufficient bandwidth to...

PC to R/C interface

You can say the same thing about frequency response.

I think you'd see something like this: tape would introduce a lot of temporal noise to the signal as it's bandwidth just isn't high enough to...

PC to R/C interface

A very high quality tape will have a 20Hz - 20kHz frequency response. (This is the approximate limit of human perception as well.) In real life you're more likely to see something like 50Hz-16kHz...

PC to R/C interface

So you think a PC sound card doesn't have sufficient temporal resolution but an analog casette recorder WILL?

I'm working on a little demo program of this that will speak Futaba 8 channel PPM, but...

Found a couple of nice resources for this:

Need adapter for RCA Video plug to DV IN

There is a DV cam out there with analog inputs...i forget the model but it's mentioned a few times on this board.

It would be nice to use digital tape, but if not you can probably get a good deal...

Need adapter for RCA Video plug to DV IN

Don't know of such thing, if there is it might be called a "transcoder" or a "digitizer".

A simple cable/dongle/adaptor won't do this, it's going to need a lot of computer power to convert that...

...even with dithering and rounding off the edges of your square wave to help control the crossing point?

Can you lay out some rough PPM specs for me or show me where i could find them? I don't...

PC to R/C interface

Pave, like i said you're thinking in the early 90's. You're just plain wrong. I'm NOT using the hardware synthesizer in the sound card (AWE32 or whatever) THIS IS WHY THEY'RE CALLED SOFT SYNTHS. ...

on board video setup

I recently bought a Sansui 14" AC/DC (12 V) TV with built in VHS VCR exactly for this purpose. $200 CDN.

Plan to run it off the motorcycle battery in my field box, or possibly car cigarette...

PC to R/C interface

Nope. The sound is all created by the windows Host and streamed, in real time with only a couple milliseconds latency, to the USB sound box (which just stupidly converts 24 bit numbers to voltages -...

100 AMERICAN dollars? Woooooot! ;)

Heh, my rates are a bit more than 100 bucks for a task like that. (But I am a Windows programmer so i know a bit about this stuff and i'm sure it's possible.)...

PC to R/C interface

If this were true i couldn't use Windows as a real time music synthesizer / multitrack audio recorder - i do it almost every day and it gaks...never.

If you have real time problems like this, you...

is a video downlink legal?

You'd get depth perception with two stereoscopic cameras, one for each eye. And video visors that can accept a left and right video signal (as opposed to a common type of visor which shows the same...

I haven't seen streamer combat since i was a a 10 year old kid (25 years ago). This was at an meet, open to the public. Whole reason i got into R/C was because of witnessing that...

is a video downlink legal?

Cam will have a 50 degree FOV. I can get a wider 115 degree but that introduces a fisheye "barrel distortion" that i'd rather not have. You don't need to see detail, just the speck that is your...

is a video downlink legal?

Just curious, would it be legal to put a video camera in the plane and fly from pilot's P.O.V.?

Don't see anything against it at http://www.rccombat.com/asp/rules/2003_open_rules.htm

Motorcycle Battery Max Amps?

I've found this page http://www.largiader.com/articles/battery.html which was a big help. As far as i can tell, the 3-5 amps i'll be pulling for no more than a couple hours a day will be fine.

If...

You both have a point.

Yes, our maths both agree...a little over 100 steps for the full travel of the servo and yeah, that's over 1 degree per step

Though by the time the movement gets to my...
