RE: What size engine are you using in your H9 Funtana?

Part of the preflight checklist for full scale flight is to ensure your flight controls are free and correct. I check my controls before each and every flight. There's a lot that can go wrong (servo...

RE: Splitting the 3D forum

Yeah, I believe this is a tough one to fix as well. I understand the desire for better organization, but with so many of us posting...I think it's to everyone's credit that it works as well as it...

RE: RE: RE: RE: Mini 3D from Extreme Flight anyone get it yet ?

Very nice Mike, they all look good. But you really got my interest mentioning that Avery has decal paper. I've never found anything but label sized stuff locally (I'm sure I didn't look hard enough)....

RE: real flight question

Geo, I can't even imagine how this hobby would be for me without the sims...any of them. Don't worry so much about my lengthy endorsements for AF. I love G2 too, and I've probably got more hours on...

RE: real flight question

I suppose that what you need to see is a video of ME hovering...then you'd see some wing drops! (and back flips, etc. :D). Too bad I don't have the means to put up a video because what you normally...

RE: RE: RE: RE: Mini 3D from Extreme Flight anyone get it yet ?

No problems here...that is, after I moved my fuel tank back just a little. At first the neck was fully seated in the firewall's access opening. I had a small problem with the fuel lines being pinched...

RE: how do you cover float tips?

You're right, they don't say. I just overlapped my top, sides, and bottom pieces over the nose...no special piece. The main coverage was from the top. I pulled that down over most of the nose. The...

RE: RE: RE: RE: Mini 3D from Extreme Flight anyone get it yet ?

I'm pretty happy with the 85s. I'm not the most experienced judge yet but they are certainly more solid. I can tell just by grabbing the control surfaces. The chattering is gone too.

But I made...

RE: Great Planes .40 size floats

The only area I had a real hard time with was the bottom front. I realized pretty quickly that I would never be able to do it in one piece and just did it in two halves, overlapped at the keel.

Mini-3D Tail Skid Alternatives

The tail skid on my Mini-3D is generally getting more and more trashed with each outing. I've had the plane out seven times now. After the sixth time my tail skid was so badly bent I had to rebend it...

RE: RC Universe abreviations, terms and acronyms list

I didn't notice LHS on here (local hobby shop), but it's one I've seen fairly often on this site. That one threw me for a loop the first couple of times I saw it.

RE: new to airplanes

RTW's suggestion to hook up with a club will solve all of your problems, if that's convienent (it's not always easy in populated areas...there are waiting lists for newbies in NE Ohio, kind of sad)....

RE: Where do you fly?

On a small pond that's on the same grounds as our club's land field. It's part of the area we rent and is only ours to use. No boats, no swimmers, just our planes. This is a picture from the fall. As...

RE: Newbie to floats needs advice on C.G.

If it was simple and easy, and all theories were set in stone, it wouldn't be fun would it? Personally I think you're in no danger of having a wildly unstable craft with the care you've taken. You're...

RE: Funtana repair questions

I just took a bunch of measurements to calculate that thrust angle. It came out to 3.6 degrees...so about 3 1/2. I also laid a straight edge down the fuse and used a protractor on the firewall and...

RE: Music in Video Clips??

I'll enjoy the music if I like it, and I've learned to ignore it if I don't...but it should always, always be in the background only. The most important thing for me is to hear the engine...without...

RE: RE: RE: RE: Mini 3D from Extreme Flight anyone get it yet ?

Well, the metal gears should protect you from breaks I should think. I just said the heck with it since I'm now planning on moving my 81s to replace the standard size throttle servos I have in my...

RE: RE: RE: RE: Mini 3D from Extreme Flight anyone get it yet ?

According to Chief, the 81 has 36oz and the 85MG has 42oz. But it's not the torque I was worried about. I was actually impressed with the torque and speed for those little guys (81s). I'm told that...

RE: Newbie to floats needs advice on C.G.

I just don't know if it's that sensitive, but we'll wait for more experienced folks to chime in. To me, the biggest deal is to be able to get up on step. You'll start off with full back elevator...

RE: Newbie to floats needs advice on C.G.

Gotcha. Well...myself, I'd go with what the designers are saying. It looks like those floats have a more forward step than the GP design, doesn't it? The majority of my float is the front part....

RE: Newbie to floats needs advice on C.G.

For what it's worth, here's a picture of the data in the manual that came with my float kit (obviously for use with all three sizes available). I'm curious what brand of floats you're putting...

RE: Newbie to floats needs advice on C.G.

I've not seen one place where it was written to place the step AHEAD of the CG. The best explanation I've heard involving the reason behind step placement is to visualize the step as the main gear in...

RE: RE: RE: RE: Mini 3D from Extreme Flight anyone get it yet ?

I just ordered the 85MGs for the tail and 85BBs for the ailerons...I think you're right and they're the way to go. Using the metal gear version only for the tail adds less weight. I had a long...

RE: Newbie to floats needs advice on C.G.

For what it's worth: I'm only on my first float plane, but I've had good success mounting my floats with the step exactly 1/2" back from my empty tank CG. The plane is a 40-size Hobbico Superstar...
