RE: Top Flite SE5 cg

I added 4oz of lead to the back of the radiator but I was also able to move my battery forward too. When I look at your photos, I can see that you may not be able to move your battery much more...

RE: Top Flite SE5 cg

Nice looking job! You have exactly the same power arrangement as mine and you will find it more than adequate. However, I don't recommend trying to fly it with the CofG too far back. I started at the...

RE: Top Flite SE5 cg

Nice job jaybird. It really looks good.
Well, the rain stopped on Thursday last week and by late friday, the flood had drained away, so our field officer was able to jump on the tractor and mow the...

RE: Top Flite SE5 cg

Hiya guys,
I have already tried twice to reply and each time, my post refused to go. Last try.
The guy from whom I bought my SE5 kit from almost 40years ago had glued the beech engine bearers to...

RE: Top Flite SE5 cg

The guy from whom I bought the kit almost 40 years ago had glued the beech engine bearers onto the fuelage sides. This was the only work that he did on the kit. Even though I adapted my model for...

RE: Top Flite SE5 cg

Evan, that looks like very good advice. I understand your angle there and it was my intention to reduce incidence, rather than increase it on the opposite side. However, the rudder trim just might be...

RE: Top Flite SE5 cg

Thanks for your comments. pimmnz.
You are obviously pretty convinced of your views on the subject ofco-ordinated turns and the need to link aileron and rudder in the Tx. I respect that and wish you...

RE: Top Flite SE5 cg

Hiya you guys,
I can add some to the above for what it is worth. As I said before, I intended to use a different method of rigging the flying wires on my SE5 and I have now done so. I have...

RE: Top Flite SE5 cg

Nice project, jlswan. Looks like the damage is pretty minor and should not pose too many problems for you. Your choice of motor is a good one. That is what I adapted mine to fly with. I use a 3600mAh...

RE: Top Flite SE5 cg

Nice photos, Jaybird but it looks cold there. As I sit here at 07:10, wearing only short pants and a tee shirt, the sight of you rugged up in your anorak gives me goose...

RE: Top Flite SE5 cg

What a lovely build! Congratulations, it looks absolutely beautiful. I agree about the c of g. Mine is pretty much as per the plan and I think it is just a tad tail heavy because it tends to porpoise...

Don't know what went wrong there. I just tried to upload a photo but lost everything. I'll try again.

RE: Top Flite SE5 cg

Wow!  What a beautiful model. Huge amount of time and effort gone into that. I wouldn't be game to fly it for fear of writing it all off.[:o]

Jaybird, I just looked you up on Google maps. Now I...

RE: Top Flite SE5 cg

Hi again Jaybird,
Looks like you will find it easy to fine tune your throws. The hard part is not knowing where to start. too much - very hard to fly smoothly: too little and you may not have enough...

RE: Top Flite SE5 cg

Hiya Jaybird, The throws that I have set up on mine work very well but I have used differential in order to make it less twitchy. The throws are: Rudder 1" either side of neutral ( I think more might...

RE: Top Flite SE5 cg

I covered mine with SIG Koverall. It is a breeze to use and looks really authentic. I get the impression that it also adds a lot of strength to the airframe. I applied it with dope because I did not...

RE: Top Flite SE5 cg

Nice photos. Plenty of detail in those models. I have not bothered with the stitching, or pinking either. I know that a real scale enthusiast puts in as much detail as possible but at my stage of...

RE: Top Flite SE5 cg

Wow, how good to see a couple of oldies being resurected like this. Keep it up and get some more fun from flying them. Mine is now finished, the last thing to arrive in my mail was a large sheet of...
