Measured as you did, mine were 25mm on left and 27mm on right side. That looks similar to yours. Perhaps pull out an incidence gauge to see if same angle.

Measure the actual space on the vehicle vs. the battery. the objective is to get as much mah in the space as possible. the stock batter leaves some space.

How hot it too hot for the motor and battery?  Motor is too hot to touch and the label is soft now.  Battery is very warm.  ESC is not warm at all.

Any ideas on what the trouble might be?

How important are the little springs that fit into the differentials and push out onto the axles/doglegs?

I lost one and don't want to spring (no pun intended) for the whole assembly kit for that...
